Unity song

I am going to ask my cousin to sing during the ceremony during the unity ceremony -- either sand ceremony or wine ceremony. My question is did you tell your musicians what to sing or give them free rein?

    Generally you pick out the music you want performed.  My mom sings and plays piano at a lot of weddings, and 95% of the time the couple have something picked out for her - the other times she suggests some songs she's done in the past and they pick from that.  I sang at my best friend's wedding, and same thing - suggested a few wedding appropriate songs, and she picked one from those.
