Oh FFS!!

Another negative test, still no Aunt Flo, and the power's out so I'm going to be knitting in the dark until it comes on again in an attempt to distract myself.

Help me Obi-Knot Kenobi, you're my only hope!

Re: Oh FFS!!

  • Do you have an appt. with your Dr yet??  How late are you??

  • No appointment yet. I usually go in on Saturday mornings because the clinic does "first come, first serve" then and I don't need to make an appointment. But I'm a little hesitant to go to the clinic on this because it's the same one that the ILs use. I know it's irrational, but I have this overwhelming fear of there being a filing mix-up or something and the ILs being told something that we aren't ready to tell them yet.

So I'm going to try to see if I can find another doctor in a similar price range and see them rather.

I am two and a half weeks late, with two negatives so far.

  • We're all with you here.  I hope you get some relieving news soon.  And do show us how your knitting in the dark goes.  It sounds like you're making the most of a bad situation.

  • I think some people don't always produce the hormone/whatever that the tests check for, so I'm glad you're going in to see someone.  But I don't know too much about any of this.  I hope it works out for you.

  • Thanks ladies. I'm definitely trying not to stress. It does help a little that I don't FEEL pregnant, but who knows, right? I plan on sharing my work as soon as it's done. Of course, I'm working on baby shawl/blankets for 3 other people, so I'm surrounded by baby stuff...

  • I hope all goes well when you do make the appointment with a different doctor!!

  • Have you been charting or anything? You may not be late, just a long cycle.. Maybe not what you want to hear but could be the explanation

I have been tracking for a while, and while I do have a longer than average cycle (32 day) and it can be a little early or late sometimes, it has never been 17 days late before. 3 days is the most usually.

Do you know with relative certainty that you ovulated 4 weeks ago though? (Sorry if you answered this already; I don't remember.)

The hormone pregnancy tests detect is produced by part of the placenta after implantation. It should be produced in every pregnancy. If you have a BFN you are not currently pregnant. Your cycle is normal until it isn't, so you may have ovulated later which is why your period still isn't here. I hope everything goes well with the doctor.

I know that, but there are stories of people who know they are pregnant and still test negative on HPT's.  Maybe some are bad tests, but it shouldn't be all of them

My bets advice go to the lab and get the urine test. it is more sensitive and accurate.

that is true, some people also have low levels or higher levels than the HPT can detect hence why its usually confirmed with a urine test.

If this makes you feel any better, a couple months ago, my period was 2.5 weeks late. My cycles are also about 32 days.

I wasn't pregnant and didn't take any tests, but I was certainly a bit nervous.

Also, granted this was 6-7 years ago, I just skipped one. No reason - no changes in diet, no extra stress, no big changes. I wasn't sexually active so never took a test. It came back the next math no problem.
