Wording of Invitations

I know I've seen it somewhere before but can't seem to remember where.  The invites my fiance decided he likes the best have the parents names on them.  My parents are still married so I don't have a question about that.  His parents are though.  What would be the best way to word it for them?

Are both sets of parents hosting the wedding? That's the only reason why both sets would need to be listed on the invitation.

Also, you don't necessarily have to choose invitations based on the wording used in the template/example. If you're ordering from a site like Minted, Vistaprint, Wedding Paper Divas, etc. the wording is fully customizable. Just because the invitation you like has both sets of parents names on it, that doesn't mean you have to word yours that way.

  • There's a very helpful sticky about the wording of invitations at the top of this page, coutesy of CMGragain. Using that sticky, I come up with:

    Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents

Mrs. Groom's Mother  (If she's remarried  Mr. and Mrs. Step Father)

Mr. Groom's Father  (If he's remarried, Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Father)

request the pleasure of your company

    at the marriage of

    Bride's Full Name

    and

    Groom's Full Name

This!  The invitation is a message from the HOSTS to the guests, telling them who, what, when and where.  It is not the prop[er place to list family members.  It is not an honor to be on an invitation.
