Escort cards or seating chart for 45 people?

I'm guessing that the smaller the reception, the less you need escort cards, and instead can just use a seating chart. For a reception of 45 people, do you recommend that I preplace guests' name cards (with their choice of entrée) at the table and just have a seating chart near the entrance, or use escort cards that guests can place at the table themselves? I don't really feel strongly about it either way, I figure i'll just go with whichever is easier.

  • I prefer escort cards.  That way as I'm walking in to the reception room and bump into Aunt Sally and start talking, I just need to look down at my card to remember where I was going instead of going off my bad memory and running back outside to look at the chart.  :)

I vote for escort cards that indicate the table number and entrée selection. There's no need to post a table chart.

  • Thanks! I'll go with that recommendation!
