Help Planning Hawaii Destination wedding next fall

Our Budget for the day of the Wedding is roughly 8-10k. I was wondering if this is doable and if I must get a wedding coordinator. I would love to have one but Im worried with my low budget it may be too much. Does anyone recommend any wedding planners that they have used?

As of now I am favoring an estate while my fiancé would love a resort for the wedding. Any thoughts on this? Some of the resorts are like 600 a day.

Re: Help Planning Hawaii Destination wedding next fall

  • You budget could work, depending on where, how much you do yourself (DIY, alcohol, etc.) and the number of people.

We got married in Waikiki overlooking the beach, so we were on an outdoor hotel deck.  If you search on the Hawaii board, you should find plenty of reviews from past brides, though it's not as active now, so searching might be better.  We also didn't stay at the hotel we had our wedding at.  We stayed next door cos it was cheaper.

  • We're spending about $11,000 on our Maui wedding and we have over 50 guests coming. We're having a beach ceremony and a big reception/party at a restaurant after.

I think your budget is very doable. Many of the wedding packages include photographers so you can save money in booking those together. Pick the parts of the wedding that are most important to you and decide how you can make it work. If you are flexible on what island you want to get married on that will also impact your options and your budget.
  • Its doable our wedding is in maui as well. You can definitely do it without a planner but i wouldn't ecommend it.
  • We are having a 55 person wedding in Kona, Hawaii in March. I was able to book a package at the Royal Kona for under $5,000 that included a musician, officiant, leies for all the guests, photographer, water station bouquet...everything.  We are then taking all of our guests right down the road to a luau where for under $3000 they will have food, entertainment, drinks etc.

All said and done, with my dress, Hawaii wedding and reception, AND a reception back on the mainland for those that couldn't make it to Kona our wedding is still going to be under $13000.
