how to address to a single mom and include their kid and allow a plus one

Have a single mom on the list and want to let her know that she and her child are invited, but that she can also bring a guest.

Do I say Ms Mom and Guest and Family ?

I don't know the kid's name but could get that info.  Then would it be Mom and Guest, with Kid on the second line?

Are you having an inner and outer envelope?

If you are having an inner and outer envelope then...
The outer envelope would be addressed as:
    Ms. Jane Smith

    Inner envelope
    Ms. Smith and Guest
    Sarah

    Only one envelope...
    Ms. Jane Smith and Guest
Miss Sarah Smith (or if it is a boy Master Eric Smith)

ETA:  I am in the camp where if you don't want to use titles for the kids you don't have to.

  • Only one envelope.  Thanks!

This. I'm also in the camp of not using Miss or Master unless it's a super formal/Black tie wedding.

  • Sorry to threadjack, but do I have to find out the last name of FH's buddy's girlfriend's kid for the invite?  Or can I just write (only one envelope)

    Sam Smith
    Sally Jones
    Chris
    123 Main St
    Anytown, USA

Neither Sally or Chris live at Sam's home.  Neither would be invited if Sam and Sally broke up.  Chris only lives with Sally part time.  I wouldn't invite Chris at all, but he was on a group camping trip with us once this summer and is a pretty cool kid.  Since we're inviting kids, I thought I'd put it in his mom's ring as to whether or not she'd like to bring him.
