Florist in the Capital District?

Hi everyone...
Finding a florist is the main thing left to check off my list and I'm having a difficult time. I have a pretty small budget, but even getting the florists to return my calls/emails is proving to be rather difficult. Does anyone have a florist they would recommend in the Troy, NY area? I'd be open to anywhere around the Capital District. My budget is around $500 and I'm looking for 5 bouquets (mine and 4 bridesmaids), 9 bouts, and 2 wrist corsages for the moms. Like I said, I realized my budget isn't huge, but I'm not looking for anything too big or over the top. I'd so appreciate any suggestions or advice!! Thanks!

The florist that I am hoping to go with is Felthousen's. The owner has not given me a quote yet, but he did send a quick "I got your email and will give you a quote soon." However, he did just have a death in the family at the end of December and might still be grieving, and I have plenty of time, so I am giving him a pass for now. I would still say to reach out to him if you have some time before your wedding, because he does great work and I believe he could stay within your budget. He has done other floral arrangements for my family in the past and they were beautiful. I believe they also have others on site that you could meet with in person if you call; I wasn't able to due to the distance.

The other option to look into is Central Market Florists (The Floral Shop at Price Chopper). I have heard that they also do great work on a budget, and I got my corsages/my dates' boutonnieres from there for both of my proms in high school (many years ago now) and they were very reasonably priced.

Just wanted to update you that Felthousen's did send me a quote today. Not only did he stay within my budget for what I am hoping to achieve, but he actually gave me some recommendations that could possibly cut my floral expense in half and recommended types of flowers that I have never heard of before to make my wedding more summery (main color is red and it's a July wedding....not an easy task!). I highly recommend them!

ETA: I just did the math based on my quote. I also have 4 bridesmaids, and many bouts and a few corsages, and for the flowers/colors that I requested (roses/assorted, white/red//ivory/pale pink), your numbers come out to $492 :). Obviously that could change based on your colors/flowers, but he definitely could stay within your budget.

  • I frequently recommend my brides to Price Chopper. They offer a great selection and have some talented people. Just remember that not all Price choppers are the same. So, look around at a few. I've heard great things about the Clifton Park Price Chopper. Best of luck with your search!
