Dress Alterations - Advice/help needed ASAP

Hi everyone!  I'm new to this board as FI and are moving from Boston to Las Vegas this week.  I need some alterations done to my dress quickly, but I'd like to use someone with a good reputation.  I purchased the dress in MA, and I always find it a bit of gamble (judging by my friends' experiences) to pick a seamstress via Yelp etc.  Have any of you had great experiences with anyone in the LV area who's not attached to a bridal salon?  I really appreciate your assistance.

Many thanks,

Re: Dress Alterations - Advice/help needed ASAP

  • Good luck on your move! Fit for a Bride ia a service many on the boards use, mainly as they receive in and press gowns for out of town brides getting married in LV so they don't have to fly with them and deal with pressing and steaming once they land.

They do alterations and mention on the site that they can do last minute alterations even for brides who just ship their dresses for steaming if they need anything done. So they are definitely open to working on dresses purchased elsewhere.

I haven't used them yet but plan to for shipping/steaming for my wedding later this month. Can't speak to alterations but they may be a good choice to check out.

They are located just off the strip behind The Flamingo.

    Good luck!
  • Bowties Bridal in Henderson does last minute, but they're pricey on top of a rush charge. Celebrations bridal does alterations too.

Linh's Alterations. They're a small shop off the 15 and Silverado Ranch. Great work and reasonable. I had them do a BM dress for me. I'm having my wedding dress done at Bowties Bridal, and though they may be expensive, their seamstresses are phenomenal.

I've had a BM dress altered at Linh's as well- just a hemline but it was done well and very timely.  Bridal I did at the salon I bought from which was Celebrations.  They were pretty reasonable as far as salon alterations, I think I paid $75 for my bustle, cups, and darts and it took about a week (not rushed).
  • Wow! $75?!? That's a great deal! I am paying $65 for cups, $65 for crinoline, and $150 for bustles!

  • Thank you so much for your help!  I'll definitely check out all those leads.  And wow @annathy03!  I paid that much for cups and some taking in on a formal dress.  A bustle was an option, but I didn't want to pay an extra $200 for it.

I just double checked on Mint to make sure I wasn't remembering wrong and doling out misinformation, but it was $75.67.  Now my bustle was a very simple over-bustle (picture below), and granted they could have been cutting me a discount since I bought the dress from them, but still for that and cups and darts I was pretty impressed.  Altering the hemline on my dress would have been pricey with the beading on the train, thankfully I didn't need that.
