Wedding Woes

Things for Tuesday

1. This morning I was using the bathroom and had to have company.  I had a pantiliner in my underwear and DefConn asked if it's for in case I pee a little.

2. I had my rings resized and they're done. Whee!!  I haven't worn them in over 4 years.  :D

3. I've been watching Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce and I kind of love it.

4.  We set up FireTV and it's the shizznit. Recommend!

5. FIL turns 60 in 2 weeks and there's no plans for a party yet.  My dad turns 60 in September and we've already got a venue and plans are rolling.  My IL's have always been this way and then wonder why we don't do 'bigger' things (parties/vacations/etc) with/for them.  Becuase y'all are a bunch of slackers and any time *I* have tried to plan something in advance, nothing ever happens.  So...sorry about it. (Just mentally preparing myself for the bitching) (I'm also really hoping they can't/don't want to come to Hilton Head this summer.  They're invited, but haven't really said if they'd come or not.)

6. I have started taking a pre-workout supplement and it's a night and day difference.  I wouldn't recommend it if you're super sensitive to stimulants.  It's the exact push I needed.

7. The kiddo schedules his HS classes at the end of this month. What the what the what?!

Re: Things for Tuesday

  • I spent $13 on groceries for the week.  Dinner could get interesting, but now I'm determined not to spend more.  We already had milk, strawberries, chicken, and 5 lbs of potatoes.

I got 6 lbs of apples
    1 head lettuce
    1 lb baby carrots
    1 dozen eggs
    1 bag frozen broccoli
    4 lbs sugar
    1 lb bacon
    1 loaf of bread
    1 greek yogurt
    1 bag or Oreos
    1 can evaporated milk

  • 7.  I know.  Son registered on Friday.  I mean...how?  The kid will get his driving permit this summer (they get them at 14 in IA).  DRIVING.

    My things:

    1.  DH and I sat down and looked at our finances/bills and found stupid things we were spending our money on.  One of them was the crazy unnecessary cable package (I mentioned making the programming change a little while ago).  It was almost refreshing to go through everything.  I need a review of it all every once in a while because I admit that I get lazy about things, most specifically the grocery shopping and buying things we don't need/eat/will go to waste.

    2.  I'm really missing my family.  I haven't seen anyone in over a month and it's getting to me.  My parents were supposed to come to DD1's game last Saturday but didn't because of the weather.  They're planning to come for the game in two weeks.  Hopefully they can make it.  If not, we're going to have to figure out a Saturday to head down there for the day.  We're really not that far (90 miles), but everyone is so busy that it's hard to get together.  I always get like this the couple months after the new year because I get used to seeing everyone so often from summer to the holidays.

I have to figure out what we have to do to get the kiddo a permit. I think he can get one at 15.

On 1: YES!  We're getting excited about canceling cable.  Also, we're bad about food.  We're getting better about it.  I did go through and throw away a lot of mostly empty bags of chips, ice cream containers, various condiment jars/containers, etc.  If people would throw it away, it wouldn't seem like we're full up of that crap all the time.

    2.  I get that way too.  Especially if we got on a run of seeing my IL's a lot, but not my family.
  • Grrr, I meant to get ice cream.  All the apples are just begging to be made into apple crisp.

DH is pouring over the seed catalogs.  As much as I hate the actual gardening I love using everything in it.

Driving:  All we have to do is walk in to the DMV and apply for the permit and pay the $6 fee after he passes the written exam and vision test. ETA:  Of course, he'll have to get the study guides and such so he knows WTH he's doing before getting the permit.

Food:  We also have the empty container issue.  And it really pisses me off.  Another big problem I have is when I try new recipes I find on pinterest.  I always assume that the original recipe won't be enough to feed our family so I double it.  Dumb, dumb, dumb.  The original recipe is usually enough.  Especially dumb to do when you don't even know if you're going to like it.  I have learned my lesson.
  • 1. The visitor thing is driving me crazy. DS will come in the bathroom and just have a chat like no big deal. We tell him to get out and he'll be like "Why? You come in when I'm peeing!" We come in because you tell us to, and because you don't always wash your hands after you are done dude. Or he'll come in right after I get out of the shower. The doors lock in our house (our bedroom has a lock but the bathroom has no door) but you can easily push the doors open so it's pointless.

    2. DH's family never plans. Drives me crazy.

    3. I am getting a makeover at Sephora (free for being VIB Rouge) on Saturday and I'm nervous. I don't want to look ridiculous. It's silly because if I do, I just go home and wash it off.

    3. I have to go out of town while DH is gone which means DD stays with my parents and I'm freaking. They have a pool and I know they will watch her carefully, but she loves the water. And she's quick.

    4. I have a trip though, so 3 days interacting with other adults! WOOHOO!

    5. This month is so crazy and is going to be so expensive. March is going to be a very lean month...

    Things:

    1.  I am definitely getting DS's cold, and mostly I want to sit around sipping tea and reading Parenthood recaps on my phone.  :\

    2.  I am too lethargic to think of more things.

    ETA:

    3. I am having one of those days where all I can see are the things I wish I'd done better, or differently, or whatever.  Like an early midlife crisis.
  • My things:
    1. we're going to Disney in April and I'm getting so excited.  My boss was there over the weekend and was just telling me all about it.  Now I can't concentrate on work.

    2. I'm a glass-half-empty type, so there is a bad side of going to Disney in April.  DH has started doing tons of research and reading about Disney and acts like he's a mother-f-ing expert now. I've been several times and he's never been.  But because he read something online, then that's the way we have to do it, and it doesn't matter what my personal experience was.  I want to slap him.  Repeatedly.

    3. Also, I may have to ask my doctor for some additional anti-anxiety meds.  Between the airport stuff, waiting in line at Disney, crowds, and spending 24/7 with DH and DD, I know I'm going to be  a mess.

Because my mother loves it there, I've been a ton.  The thing you describe with your DH?  That's what people would do to me when they found out we were going.
  • He's sucking all the fun out of it, and then I know I'll get the blame for not having fun.

(pardon me, I'm pms-ing really bad right now.)

I swear to god, if he makes us do something because he read about it on yahoo, I'll strangle him.  When we went to NYC a couple years ago, he read about the "best ice cream place in America" that was in Brooklyn, and made us go all the way there, and it wasn't that good, and *then* he told me that he read it on ya-mother-fucking-hoo.  YAHOO!  Do people (besides my husband) still even use yahoo????

Ya'll better get your bail money ready.
  • If it was on Yahoo, then it probably was the best ice cream place in America...in 1999.
