Not Engaged Yet

New kid on the playground..

Hi all. I'm newish... to the boards.

My boyfriend and I have been talking marriage a ton lately. We've pretty much narrowed down a date and that we want a destination wedding. Just waiting on him to actually propose. He's the one that wants to make a deal and actually propose. :) We met in Oct 2012, got pregnant after 4 months (eek), and have been a happy little family of three for a little over a year now! So obviously we do everything in a crazy mixed up order. We like to keep everyone on their toes!

Anyways i like long walks on the beach, anything with pasta, and I currently joined a cult... aka Crossfit. ;) I'm super sarcastic at times. Oh and I live on the East Coast of Florida, so I really do like long walks on the beach.

Re: New kid on the playground..

  • Oh man, crossfit is a legit cult! So funny. Welcome :)

  • Hi! Welcome to the boards!

We have ladies who have taken different steps in their relationships at all different times so we're definitely not all doing things in the "traditional" order!

My only piece of advice (I like to give advice whether it's asked for or not :) ) is to not get hung up on any one specific date. It can making waiting for a proposal even more stressful!

  • Thanks @bethsmiles we have a "day" I should say. Its the day we met, Oct 27th, the year will be determined by timing 2016 at the earliest. :) And since we are planning a destination we won't care what day of the week it is.
  • Welcome to the board!

Seconding the don't get locked into a date. FI and I wanted our anniversary (May 1) but after viewing our venue during December, decided we truly wanted a December wedding and are throwing the anniversary out the window!

  • HI! Agreed with all... I wouldn't want to wait another year to find a venue I liked that was within budget and had Oct. 27 open. Also...  Oct. 27 falls on a Thursday in 2016. That's not the most ideal day for a wedding for a lot of people.... It's a nice thought (I'm sentimental too) but... definitely boxes you in. Maybe say "I want to get married on a 27th of whatever month" is a better compromise? And even that is boxing you in.

Anyway, HI. I love pasta too. I could (and sometimes do) eat it everyday. It is very bad. Very Very bad.
  • Hi! Welcome to NEY! Many of us are in all different stages of life but all came here before we were engaged and like hanging out here, so don't be surprised about that. I second (and 3rd and 4th!) PP's in not getting too hung up on a date. My FI and I started dating in October too and I loved the idea of a fall wedding, but summer actually worked better for many of our loved ones, so we are getting married in July. There is nothing wrong with having a new anniversary, and worst case you celebrate two instead of one each year!

Anyways, I also love pasta and long walks on the beach (I live in SoCal!) ;). In fact, FI and I are doing pictures at the beach on Saturday, and I can't wait.

  • Thanks everyone, I'll keep that in mind about the day. All that mattered is in the end we are happy and married! No one will remember all the details in 40 years anyway! :)

@AuroraRose41‌ that's so exciting about beach pictures! I love the beach, its always a perfect backdrop.
  • Hi!  Welcome!  NEY is my safe place. I was totally BSC before I came here and these lovely ladies help me keep my "OMG WHY AREN'T WE ENGAGED RIGHT NOWW???" in check.  Plus they're just all fabulous.

I'm from a land-locked state, so I am actually very jealous of your long walks on the beach!
  • Welcome! I'm sure you've already heard it enough, but I don't really get getting hung up on a particular date and I don't think you should limit yourself. The day you get married is going to be special no matter what, it doesn't really up the ante to having it on your dating anniversary or whatever.

But anyway welcome! I know we have several east coast Florida ladies here! I'm in Georgia so practically in your neck fo the words in comparison to some others! Are you a Florida native?

  • @labro no I am not a native Floridian. I moved from Southern Indiana in 2011. That is where I was born and raised.  I miss family, but would never move back in a million years!
