Reception decor: flameless candles

I am the Mother of a Bride and want to create her dream....on a budget. The guest list is 100 and the venue is a restored Victorian hotel that is a historic landmark. The bride loves candles and does not want a lot of flowers. The historic landmark does not permit live flames. How can I create a magical candlelit room without spending a fortune?

They even make flameless candles that flicker and "move" so it looks more like real candlelight.

I did flameless tea-lights. Honestly it came out so well I wish I had done a lot more of them. You can actually find them in bulk fairly cheap on amazon. We used them as part of the "escort cards" in votive candle holders, which had a label on them with the person's name and table number. The whole glowing candle-table was gorgeous, and then they added to the decor of the tables and also provided the extra romantic light.

Some flameless candles cost a fortune, though. That's why I stuck to the tea lights. (I swear, I think they ended up being like 33 cents a piece). However, if you buy some bigger candles you can always keep them after the wedding in your house.

I came up against the same issue- my reception was in a historic mansion and open flames were forbidden.

I bought a ton of flickering, LED tealights from Dollar General.  They came in packs of 2 for $1 and they were cheaper than anything I found online.  I actually ordered a case of 48 from their website- you had to order the full case- and it was still cheaper to do that than to but from Amazon, Saveoncrafts, etc.

Yes, battery operated lights are great. And if you want to disguise them, but them into frosted votive holders or ones of a more solid color. And if you can get the ones that flicker, then no one really will notice.

Thank you everyone. Love the "escort" card idea. Just found David Tutera vellum lampshades and will probably use this idea:  Champagne/Wine glasses with lampshades, flickering tealights in the stemware and possibly one at each placesetting.  Also plan to use a remote control! The bride and groom will have enough stemware for a party in their new home!  Each table will have a different set of stemware!  So excited and pleased because the decor will not be wasteful and it will be beautiful!

Your daughter sounds like me. I'm doing flameless candles but a mix of 3 sizes

One thing I was looking for - and is harder than anticipated - was finding ones that were more white. Many are yellow. iKea is best for sizing options and prices!
