DIY Dying linen napkins??

I'm doing a gray and yellow theme to my wedding and I decided on doing a gray runner on each table with yellow linen napkins. The napkins I have found for sale online are either a) super expensive or b) not available in the yellow I would like.

I am contemplating buying a large amount of white linen napkins from a wholesale company and dying them to the pale yellow I am looking for. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I dye fabric fairly regularly, and I would caution against dying your own napkins. Most of the dyes you can buy tend to bleed/stain if they get wet, even after several washes - do you want to take the chance of your guests walking around with yellow mouths? If you really want to do this, take the time to do a test batch and see how many washes it takes to get the bleeding/staining to a minimum. You may have to adjust the amount of dye you use to get the right color since it will fade with repeated washing/drying.
