Who did you invite dress shopping with you?

Re: Who did you invite?

  • Mom & my sis (MOH). Nice and small, it was great.
  • My mom, my MOH and 2 bridesmaids went...  I didn't "invite"...they asked to come.
  • I went a few times - the first time with a friend (my MOH), to get a general idea of what looked best on me, with no intention of actually buying.

Then, my FMIL and mom were both in town to help with venue hunting and I knew it would be the only opportunity bring my FMIL in dress shopping, so we popped into one store in between venue tours (luckily they took walk-ins!). My FMIL only has sons so she was really happy to be included.

Then, the time when I was actually serious about choosing a dress, I brought my mom and sister. It was nice to have opinions, but not too many!

  • My FMIL and my 2 bridesmaids. My MOH and my mom are in different states so they couldn't make it.

  • My mom, my MIL, best friend/MOH and another very close friend.
  • my mom and gram..the first shop. Then took my cousin (very close too) and my mom to the 2nd shop this was the day I found the dress

  • The people's who's opinions matter the most and will be most helpful.

For me trip #1 was mom and grandma....mostly just because grandma was in town and it was a way for her to be included. It worked out bc I was able to try on about 10 dresses at this weekday appointment and narrow it down for the next one

Trip #2 was mom and best friend.  Mom would like anything I tried on no matter what so I really needed my best friend's opinion because I knew she would be more forthcoming with what looked good or not.  Since I'd already been once I'd narrowed it down pretty well though

  • I took my mom & my aunt (mom's twin sister, we do everything together).
    It was perfect.

  • No one. I showed my fiance online before I ordered it.

  • My mom, step-mom, and two sisters. Of my 3 fittings, I went alone to one, brought my FMIL to the second, and my dad to the last one. My other 3 bridesmaids saw the dress on the hanger when we went shopping for their dresses.

  • No one.  I didn't go dress shopping in store.  I ordered online. I showed my mom and H before hand to get their opinions of my top two.
  • Only my mom came along. I wanted to Grandma and cousin to come with me but they live in CT and I live in VA. So when I did find the dress, I facetimed them so they could be involved.
  • My mom and bridesmaids (my sister and two BFFs).  I live away from my friends and family, so we decided to make a day of it since I don't get to see them very often.  We met at the city between where my mom, sister and I were coming from, and where BFFs were coming from.  We had a short engagement and this was the only chance I was going to have to go shopping, so I knew I had to walk out with a dress that day.

BFF#1 was actually the reason I picked the dress I did - wasn't crazy about it until she suggested a sash, which totally changed it.

My mom and MOH (my younger sister). It may be rude of me but I did not want my FMIL to come as I wanted to have a special moment with my mom and sister when I found my dress!

  • I went once with my mom, sister, and future mother-in-law after we went to see our venue. This was more for fun and less to actually find the dress.

I found my dress when I went shopping alone and bought it online a few days later for more than half off.
  • My mom and my MOH. My MIL was in the area and stopped by once I decided on a dress.

  • No one.  Had dress in mind, it was brought in for a special trunk show.  Really wanted it to be "the one."  Put it on and loved it.  Didn't try on any other dresses.

I knew my mom would want me in something princess-y bedazzled and my MOH would probably pick something more contemporary/trendy/sexy than I would for myself, so I went alone.  I didn't want anyone second guessing my choice, and I didn't need an entourage to feel like "the bride."

Really glad I did it this way since it was low stress.

I took myself out for a celebratory milkshake afterwards, too.
  • Just my mom. A few people may go with me when I order the dress, but I don't want anyone else to actually go shopping.

  • I went dress shopping quite a few times- sometimes by myself, sometimes with a few friends, and once with 2 aunts and 4 bridesmaids. I personally wasn't concerned about bringing a large group with me because, while I wanted a lot of opinions, I knew I wouldn't have any trouble choosing a dress I loved even if other people didn't love it.
  • my mom sister who was my moh and my aunt first place and where i ended up getting my dress. wanted to try on a few more designers at another place so i took my mom sister and another aunt who was in town.

i wanted to keep it simple and not overwhelming
