June 8/9th Brides - A few questions...!

Hello all!

For any June 8th/9th Brides, I have a couple questions for you~! I'm starting to worry about breaking out from stress. I just got a pimple on my chin and am trying to conquer that one, but don't want to start a new skin regimen that could potentially cause a breakout.

What are you ladies planning to do for your skincare pre-wedding? Any remedies to suggest also?

Second question, final dress-fittings! So last Friday, I had my first fitting after the alterations. They took in the dress too much (which was so depressing when it didn't zip! I lost 20lbs for the wedding!) and they also screwed up the hem.

Now I have another fitting scheduled for THIS Friday, did you have multiple fittings? I'm worried they might not get it right the next time. (David's Bridal). Tips? I'm so stressed out!

Friday = Dress fitting #2
Saturday = Final hair cut
Sunday = Final Makeup Trial Run

Eeek! Can't believe how close it is!

  • For skin- I would say a spot treatment and drink lots of water, also cut back on greasy foods.
    For dress g=fitting- yes I have had multiple fittings, I tihnk it is common. If the place screws up your dress can  you get your money back?

  • Yes, I suppose I can get my money back, but I'm more worried about getting the dress done by the wedding day. This Friday leaves just a bit of time for them to do any last-minute alterations. It's just scary, lol. Surprised

    I've had three dress fittings, my final one is this Thursday.

    As for breakouts, I wouldn't change up your skincare routine too much, using a new cleanser or moisturizer might make things worse. Just use a spot treatment, stay out of the sun, and try to reduce your stress through natural means as much as possible-ie exercise, meditation, massages, punching bags...whatevs :)

  • Agree c pp.  For skin: hydration is key!  Especially in stressful times as these.  I wouldn't start a new regimen or anything this close.  Manage your stress pimples the way you normally do.

    Dress fitting: with me living and working in the Washington DC area and our wedding being in Houston, I've only had 2 fittings..  I'm not flying home (Houston) till next Tuesday, which will be my final fitting!  Talk about stress and hoping I didn't gain/lose any weight since April 30 (my last fitting).  When you go this Friday, let's hope for the best!

    It's amazing what the stress level is this close to our dates..

  • I also loss 20 pounds for my wedding. My dress has a corset built into it so it fits fine. Last time I wore my dress was for bridals in March. I think I may have gained 5 pounds since then but it should still fit great.

    For pimples, I have heard taking zinc (pill form) helps clear the skin up. Lavender, if you are not allergic, is also suppose to be soothing for stressed skin, i.e. eczema, dry skin

    I am getting my final haircut 2 weeks before the wedding. This way it can grow a bit if it is too short yet still have great shape for the day of.
  • Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's going to have a few more fittings than expected!

    :) I appreciate all the advice. I guess a few warm bubble baths wouldn't hurt to relieve some stress too!

    I can't believe how much everything is starting to weigh on me..!! It's hard to focus in the office.

    This This This! I have been spot treating the crap out of my face if I even think a something is trying to come up it gets treatment. I drinks lots of water normally but over the last few months I have taken better care of my skin (I used to forget to wash my face at night.. bad I know) but now I do it every night. I am trying to stay calm before the wedding and just take everything in. If I stress out I will start to break out.!
  • What are your favorite/typical spot treatments? Curious on what everyone else does.

  • Same as other ppl said. Hydration, try to reduce your stress as much as possible and stay away from greasy food. Spot treatments or toothpaste overnight! I have been worried about pimples too.

    I only had 2 dress fittings but my dress was special ordered so I just needed the sleeves tacked in and a bustle. I am trying it on again tonight just to be sure I'm still good.

    My hair stuff I have just been keeping up on as usual and I have my last appointment for touchup on color June 4th with the wedding date June 9th.
  • I swear by Mario Badescu's drying cream (it is a bit pricey)... but some of the girls suggested a clearasil spot treatment on here the other day.
  • Try not to touch your face.  I find myself resting my chin on my hand all the time then I breakout.  Stay hydrated like everyone said.  I would be nervous about changing your routine so close to the wedding.  Make sure you are washing your face before bed and in the morning. And before and after you work out or sweat.    I find that if I'm lazy and skip a step, then I break out so I'm being very diligent about it in the last couple weeks.  If possible, don't wear makeup when you don't need to.  My derm always tells me not to wear make up, but of course I don't listen to her.

    I had 2 fittings.  You want it done as soon as possible at this point, so if god forbid anything was wrong again, they could fix it.

  • Cassandra999 - Totally agree on all the points about face routine. I've started using just a tinted moisturizer and no foundation so that I don't have as much makeup on my face prior to the wedding to help avoid breakouts. So far so good, minus the one pimple! Haha.

    I'm crossing my fingers this Friday's fitting will be the last -- if not, they will have a very anxious bride on their hands at David's Bridal, and I will be demanding the following set of alterations to be completed ASAP.

    I don't want to be a Bridezilla, but 5 days before the wedding just feels like pushing it to me!

  • I am having 3 - already have two down and one more this Friday for the final, final fitting. Then the dress is being transported by the shop owner to the venue on the wedding morning.

    For the skin question - hydrate, clean your skin thoroughly with a non-drying agent and don't experiment with any new products at this late date.

  • My final dress fitting isn't until next Tuesday- only 4 days before my wedding. Also nervous about that!!!

    My face has been breaking out as well :( I've been drinking lots of green tea and water. I've been using the Olay acne treatment and I've liked it. I've also noticed I break out where my cell phone touches my face so I've been using speaker phone and cleaning my phone off everyday.
