April 2015 brides? Or Feb 2015 for first fitting brides?

Hi ladies!!

So, I'm planning for my April 2015 wedding, and a week ago, just bought my dress.  When the lady took my measurements, I was  Ok-ish with the measurements but vowed to lose at least 10 pounds by the time of my first fitting (which is supposed to be in February).

How many of you are in a similar boat?  Need an accountability partner?  I know I do!  Let me know if you want to work together!!!  :)

  • I'm an April bride also! I'm looking to lose 20-30 lbs by the wedding date, which is less than 5 months away. I'm down to be accounted for and hold someone else accountable! :)

  • Let's do it!!! PM me and let's get working!
  • Can I join too?  I need to lose probably 10-15 pounds before the wedding.  My wedding dress finally came in last week from being ordered and I am going to try it on next saturday.  I expect that my first fitting for alterations won't be until February though.  What plan are you all following in regards to losing weight?

  • Right now I'm counting calories. I eat A LOT of plain grilled chicken with steamed vegetables because all of FI's and my money goes to the wedding and we can't afford to go buy a variety of healthy food haha (also it pisses me off that healthy stuff is WAY more expensive than junk). i'm also planning too start walking and slowly get into jogging, but so far getting my butt out of bed has been the most difficult part lol

How are you planning to do it? Or have you made a plan yet?

  • I haven't really made a plan yet.  I thought that the easiest thing might be for me to count calories and track everything through my fitness pal so that could help me stay on track. I also need to give up fried foods because that is my weakness. I need to get back into exercising, FI and I used to run a couple miles a few days a week, but since we got engaged, for some reason there is no time for that.  I just need to kick myself in the butt and make myself do it.  I know that if I can just get started then that's half the battle.

Another thing I struggle with is staying hungry all the time when I'm trying to watch what I eat... So I don't know how to fix that :-/

I drink A LOT of water for this. I fill up a 64 oz jug that I got at a dollar store, and I just sit it on my desk at work. It's usually gone by lunch time, then I drink a glass of water before dinner as well. It just sucks having to pee like every 20 minutes lol

I wil try that.  I like water, I just don't know that I drink that many ounces in a day.  Thank you for your tips!  I'm going to the grocery store tonight to stock up on healthy stuff. :)

  • Anyone can join!  Let's do it!!  If you all want to do something like a daily log in on this thread, I think that'd be great to keep us all accountable.  If you prefer something less public, maybe we can do a group message system.  Are any of you on My Fitness Pal?  Maybe we can do a group there?  I'm already on there as hoyagirl03.

To stay full, I drink a lot of water as well.  Also, protein definitely fills you up so if you can get grilled chicken and some greek yogurt in you that's good.  And eating a TON of veggies definitely has helped me.
  • I'll PM you my My Fitness Pal User name. @futuremrshp :)

  • Hi Ladies!
My wedding is May 2015, and I also want to lose about 30 pounds. Ahh.
Can I join you all and stay accountable? Doing it alone is the number one reason I don't stick to it.
  • @sandiag --- yes!!!  Friend me on MFP -- I'm hoyagirl03

Hey ladies, getting married early May. Also thinking I will start my fittings late February/early March so similar timelines. I have lost about 8-9 pounds so far and would like to lose another 8-9 before my fittings start. More than anything though I am trying to lose body fat and build muscle more than anything else so that I look toned. I want awesome arms!

I am working out 4-5 times a week including one work out a week with a trainer. I am trying to do mostly lower carb as well.

EDIT: I got a fitbit over the holidays so I started tracking more on that but my MFP name is saralawufl

  • @badbnagway That's awesome!  What works best for me for losing body fat is lifting weight and HIIT cardio.  But I think it just depends on your body composition and what your trainer recommends!  You've got this!  I've got a bit to go-- at least 10 pounds and an inch around the waist, hips and thighs each!

Agreed. My friends and I are also doing a body fat loss competition and so the trainer I hired is actually a body builder. She is showing me workouts I never dreamed of. The idea being you can turn your body into a fat burning machine by adding muscle. I am never going to be "jacked" but I want to look fitter and slimmer, win the competition, and look fab in my wedding dress.

The biggest discovery so far is "leg day". I did not know my legs and butt could hurt so much :) If anyone has any good tips on extreme leg soreness cures let me know.

  • @badbnagdway Highly recommend for soreness is to get some glutamine.  You can get it for pretty cheap at GNC.  After leg day, just take a teaspoon of it and put it in a glass of water and drink it.  Also, make sure you're getting your protein shake in as well.
Also --- LOTS OF STRETCHING!  :)
Pretty cool you have an actual body builder training you guys.  You're totally going to win that contest plus some!  :)
  • Hi ladies!!!!!!!  Just checking in to see how it's going!
