After party inserts?

My venue has the option to have a fully hosted after-party with a bartender, open bar and with served pub-style food that we have decided to opt for.
This party begins directly after the reception. It is in a separate area of the venue, that will be set up for us while the reception is occurring. At the end of the reception, the guests will be invited to join us to continue the party.
I want to make sure that guests are aware of this add-on, in the case they want to stay for it and need to make some other sort of accommodation plan, since this option will take us later into the night.
We already included this information on our website, but I am curious if we should include some sort of insert that "officially" invites our guests to stay.
If so, what would the wording be for that insert? Would be be able to include it on the Reception insert? (Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Reception and After-party all at same place, all fully hosted and all immediately following each other). How would you organize / word this invite?

Re: After party inserts?

  • This sounds fun!  I wouldn't bother with an insert if it's in the same venue.  Could you have your DJ make an announcement sometime around dinner time if he's announcing other stuff ("Everyone, there's an afterparty in Room X after dinner so stick around if you want to enjoy some pub food!") and then again right at the end of the reception as they are wrapping up ("This way to the afterparty!")

That way guests are aware early on in case they are inclined to leave early, and then get some directions at the end.

And really, just spread via word of mouth.  And when you, your H (!), and bridal party start going over there, people will follow.

  • Thanks @JCBride2015 ! I sort of figured that, but then had the doubt since it was "hosted".
Better this way, FI and I were really looking to not "overdo" it with the invitations and if we could get away with just purchasing an Invite and RSVP card and including the directions cards, which are provided by the venue for free, we are very happy people!

  • I get wanting to advise guests in advance, in case they are hiring a babysitter they can tell them they will be out longer or make overnight accomodations for their kids. Or depending on how early everything starts, even pets. Having it on your website is good and you can pass the information on by word of mouth.
