Weekly Recaps!

I thought this could be a fun thread to combat the Monday blahs.

Let's each recap the past week in five points. They can be events, themes or thoughts. Let's reflect a little and tell each other the highlights!

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." -Isaiah 61:10 NKJV

    1. I signed up for more free books for book reviews programs from Christian publishers. I'm excited. I'm a voracious reader, and I really love doing that
    .
    2. On Tuesday I was supposed to hang out with one of my best friends for the first time in over two months. But... she's pregnant and was way too sick from morning sickness to do it! I did get to go to a favorite restaurant of mine and the day was still pretty good. She's only 10 weeks pregnant, and it's still new news to me. I'm very excited for her.

    3. On Friday I got to go to my weekly Bible Study for the first time in forever. We cancelled for the holidays, and before that I was working, so it was great to see everyone and catch up. I love my Friday night family.

    4. Ryan and I have really been working on our relationship this week. We have fought, had meaningful conversations, and have made some important decisions. We're getting married sometime between May and August!! (Before this, we just knew it was somewhere between May and December).  We also spent a lot of time enjoying each other as friends.

    5. I spent time in prayer seeking God's guidance on what to do with this new time in my life. I had a seasonal job, which is either over or almost over (they didn't schedule me at all this week, but they've not formally let me go).  Since I'll be moving to India this summer, I need to the Lord to show me what to do in this small yet important time in my life.  And He's answering.
    What about you all?

  • Great Idea!

    1. Book Club: I am a member of an online reading group and we are reading "Water for Elephants". I checked it out at my local library and can't wait to read it.

    2. Engagement Announcement: Our engagement announcement ran in my paper back home. I am so pleased with how it turned out.

    3. Christian Music: I listened to a lot more Christian music this past week. I have Sirius radio in my car and love the channel for Christian music. It has opened my eyes in a whole new way.

    4. Table Numbers: I ordered the prints from our engagement pictures to go into the frames at our reception. Now to come up with 20 table names.

    5. Honeymoon: researched hotels, saw where they finally set the game time for the Reds game we are going to and now just waiting to book the flights. Waiting on FI.....

  • Great idea!!

    1)  I've been reading a lot too.  I'm very thankful for the public library.

    2) I applied for a job.  I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do.  The extra money would be great, but I'm worried about over-extending myself since I'm also taking 4 grad school classes.

    3)  I completely forgot that I owe a friend $7.88 and I feel bad about forgetting.

    4)  My therapist is a Christian.
When I started therapy, I hadn't specifically asked for a Christian therapist, but I love that faith is important for her.  I also love that she asks every week if I've met any new young people at church.  (Most of the congregation is 50+.)  On Friday we talked about how I would like to get more involved, but I have class the night of choir practice.

    5) There were a lot more people at church yesterday.  I recognized some of the new people from the Christmas Eve service.  A man who I'm used to seeing alone had a woman, I think his wife, with him.

  • I like this idea!

    1. I watched the Last Song on Friday.  Worst.  Movie.  Ever.  Seriously, I don't know how or why I bothered to finish it.

    2.  I started re-reading the Hunger Games on Saturday.  Then finished it yesterday.  That makes round 3!  I also started re-reading Catching Fire, which is the second book in the Hunger Games triology, and am already two thirds done with it as well!

    3. Exercised for the first time in a long time.  I have lost 6.5 pound in two weeks!  I'm hoping I can keep this up!

    4. DH and I watched the Saints/Lions playoff game at my parent's house.  And the Saints won and set all sorts of records!  Woohoo!  Who dat?!

    5.  Attended the young couples/married small group at church for the first time yesterday.  And we liked it, so we'll probably be going back.  We miss our college group already, though.  :(

    1. FI was gone most of the week and that threw me into a funk real quick. I struggled so much with feeling that dependant on him which of course came out in the oh so healthy- "I'll bite your head off for a minor issue"

    2. I've been reading quite a bit, but my classes start back up this week so I'm sad to see reading for pleasure go out the window for a while.

    3. Game night with friends was much needed full of laughs.

    4. We bought a good camera! We have a Nikon D3100! Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and every other holiday that brings extra cash!

    5. I took my youth team to a leadership conference this weekend and it rocked. I love being surrounded by people who want to imact the lives of teenagers!

  • 1. Thursday was 100 days till our wedding - I can't wait to be married, but I have tons to do before that day.

    2. I had a cold most of the week, and didn't have energy for anything besides work until Thurs night.  On the bright side, that meant I got a lot of reading done in the evenings, and was too tired to miss FI who was busy since his brother was in town.

    3. Got lots of work done on the paper I'm writing, hopefully it will be done soon and we can submit to a journal!

    4. Had a great weekend with FI, got wedding stuff done, and I was reminded how thankful I am to have a FI who is beyond willing to help with wedding details.

    5. FI and I are looking for a church that will be "ours" instead of mine or his, which has been slightly discouraging, but Sunday we went to a church that I really enjoyed and we agreed is on our list to go back and learn more about.  I needed that encouragement as we were overwhelmed on Saturday with the number of churches in our area.
  • 1. Reading:  I started reading The 5 Love Languages, it is good so far!

    2. Friends: My friend got engaged and I am super super pumped for her!

    3. Church/music:  Got together with my quartet at church and decided we are going to start practicing more often and doing some more interesting pieces instead of the old standard repertoire, which is really exciting.  I miss singing, I haven't had people to do it with and solos at church get a bit boring, I miss the 3- and 4-part harmonies.

    4. Food: I threw out all the leftover (mostly stale) Christmas cookies and candies.  I have eaten so much unhealthy food over the last 4 months.  I don't usually throw stuff out, I save and don't want to waste money or food but this was a good move, I won't eat them now!

    5. Home life:  H left to go back to his job away from home, which stinks.
  • 1. Read six books. Most nights I started and finished the same book :)
    2. Worked a few shifts.
    3. Had a date night with H. Tried a new resturant and saw "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"
    4. Did some cleaning around the apartment.
    5. Not a happy thing, but I put my best friend on a plane back to Pensacola. I probably won't see him for at least six months, if not a year. That was a hard and unhappy day for me.

<div>Six books in one week! Wow! You deserve an award! </div>
  • 1. Went back to Zumba last Monday after a holiday break! Missed today though since I don't feel the best.

    2. Got some super comfy new sweatpants and stuff from the Semi-Annual Sale. And I got pants and a shirt from H&M with a gift card a friend gave me for my birthday. Got Dad's birthday gift, too!

    3. Went to one of the churches we have been checking out on Saturday. My parents came too and we went to dinner after. Went to a different church Sunday.

    4. Watched the Steelers/Broncos game at H's parents' Sunday. Even though we (unexpectedly) lost, H and I love Tim Tebow and what he stands for, so it wasn't TOO disappointing for me.

    5. Let my students have a 2-minute dance party without music today. They needed to get the wiggles out. Someone was doing the robot. Very cool.
