packing question

Ok so I am thinking way ahead of time but I want to be prepared for everything I have to ship down/store... & one of the things I am now questioning are champagne flutes. I got cute ones at our engagement party, but now they just seem like one more fragile thing to pack & worry about. Do I really need to bring my own? Even my knife& server I am feeling "eh" about because I have to make sure they get put in my checked luggage to avoid being arrested at the airport. (lol). Anyway what were some of the things you guys had to sacrifice & leave behind, being a DW bride?

Re: packing question

  • I didn't bring champagne flutes with us, but our wedding company provided them for us so I did bring them back with me.  :)  I wrapped each one in a beach towel and put them in my checked luggage, kinda in between all of our clothes, and they made it home just fine.

We didn't have a cake at our DW, but I think as long as your put your cake server set in a box or bubble wrap and put it in your checked bag, you shouldn't have any probs.

  • i got flutes too but i don't plan to bring them. the idea is nice, but id rather not have to worry about breaking a nice gift someone got me, just to take a sip of chamagne from them. i'll do my own toast at home with them!

  • Thanks girls. Sweetestlife28... You made me feel better because all my friends think I am nuts for not wanting to bring my own. so that is one thing that I may cross of my list :)
  • No toasting flutes for us either, but I never really wanted any.  I have one bag just for all the wedding stuff like oot bags, place card holders gifts and our cake serving set.  I starting packing it long ago to be organized and now I barely remember what's in it.

  • My mom gave me flutes for xmas, so I feel like i have to use them.  I am shipping them in the box they came in and then inside a larger box with everything else.  It sounds like you dont have to worry any more though Wink
  • I will probably end up bringing them if I have room or if i am shipping a box that has room, but they most likely won't be a priority. I care more about my sand ceremony vases & the pic frame we are having guests sign. We will see! thanks for your opinions ladies Cool
