Mini-moon

We are getting married in August 2015, and due to my fiances work schedule, he's not able to get 2 weeks off for a real get-away honeymoon until jan or feb 2016. His work rotation in the summer goes 8 days on, 4 days off, so we decided to do a small 4 day trip.

HIS idea, is to do a boat trip (his family has a boat) around the gulf islands (we live in BC/Canada).

I suggested going to Seattle for 4 days, but he doesn't think 4 days is enough. Has anyone gone to Seattle for a honeymoon or a trip, or even just for 4 days? Did you see a lot? Or would a week + be better?

I'm not opposed to his idea, I definitely would like boat around in the summer sun, but they'll always have the boat! Thanks :)

Re: Mini-moon

  • I've never been to Seattle, but I usually find a long weekend in most US cities is enough for me if I'm not leaving that city.
  • 4 days would be plenty in Seattle... There are few US cities I'd want to spend more than 4 days in (NYC, maybe New Orleans).
  • I brought my ex to Seattle for a surprise Christmas trip years ago. It was 3 nights and it was perfect amount of time! We spent a whole day walking around to the Space Needle, Music Museum, Kerry Park. We spent another day just walking around Pikes Place, the underground tour, shops and restaurants downtown. Then we even spent a day taking a ferry to Victoria. I really don't think we missed anything!

Haha I live in Victoria, beautiful right?? Cool that helps, I don't know what we'll end up doing yet. But that's good to know you can see tons in a short amount of time. Cuz we literally would have 4 days, including travel!

Yes so pretty!! Even though we were bundled up, it was still freezing out (late December) so we spent half the day inside the natual history museum just killing time waiting for the ferry hahah that was kind of a shame.

  • My mom and I did a 3.5 day girls trip to Seattle a few years ago and had a great time - it was the perfect amount of time! Make sure you check out the Chihuly Gardens, Smith Tower, and the Chocolate Box chocolate factory tour. :)
  • Cool, I haven't been there since I was a kid so it'll definitely be nice to go as an adult now!
