It's chilly today. At least it's sunny.

I need to start thinking about DefConn's bday party. We're having it on his actual bday this year.

The party is going to be a construction/farm/truck theme.

I've been working a ton of OT, but it looks like that's going to end here soon. I'm sad because the extra $$ is good, but it will also be nice to have my time back.

I'm ready for a nap...already. It's going to be a long day.

Regular school is on a 2 hr delay, but I can't figure out about preschool. They usually follow the schools, but also send a text and post to the facebook page. Nothing this morning except saying no drop offline. Because goodness knows you wouldn't want to have the teachers out in the cold when you could have parents dragging out their menagerie of kids.

I can't figure out how to get the data from my old computer to my new one. I've been hanging on for dear life with the old computer, but I'm at the point I'm willing to pay someone.

I need to run a bunch of errands but today is effed.

Morning.

I went with DH to the doctor yesterday, where he had blood drawn to test for rheumatoid arthritis. We should get the results of those tests in a few days but were warned that it could be a while before we could get in to a rheumatologist. Yippee.

Today I need to drop a defective hair dryer at FedEx. No wonder the $200 hair dryer on Living Social was only $38. The damn thing rattles, makes a screeching high pitched noise and the best of all, SMOKES! I haven't owned a hair dryer in 15-20 years, but I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to do that.

Our schools called a two hour delay, so we were puttering around, making oatmeal, and generally hanging out when they sent an update and called a snow day. Which meant that instead of lounging around for 45 more minutes, I had to get them up and out so I could drop them at DC (which, thankfully, is on a normal schedule) and get into work. That was a little whiplash-y, but it all worked out.

I usually try to avoid second guessing the schools, but this one was a complete WTF. It's warm, so the streets are wet, but there's really just a dusting on lawns and rooftops. It's not predicted to get worse. Snow is falling, but that's it. I don't think it was worth canceling school over.

I'm AuntFlo 1.0 again! Apparently, my password was saved on my home computer. Yay!

I'm home from work today with DD. School was cancelled, again, due to low temperatures. I was going to do some work from home today, but then my bosses told me not to and that I have to take PTO. Dammit.

So, I'm sitting here watching Curious George (that man in the yellow hat is an f-ing irresponsible idiot.) and planning our Disney trip.

So far, we have dinner reservations at Boma and lunch reservations at Akershus. Trying to decide if we want to spend the extra points on Le Cellier for our anniversary dinner. We've made all of our Fast Pass reservations and we're very happy that we got in on everything we wanted. I'm getting pretty darn excited. 2 months to go!

LOL. re: Curious George. You'd think the Man would tether George to him after the 20th 'adventure'. Also, George always 'saves the day'...Uh no, he just cleans up the damn mess he made (which wouldn't have happened if the Man had been keeping track of him).

WHY DOES NO ONE EVER GET MAD AT THE MAN?!

But DefConn loves that stupid monkey (he sleeps with one) and the books.

I love George, too. And so does DD, but damn that man. I've observed that he surrounds himself with stupid people so that no one ever gets mad at him.

Now we're watching the How to Train Your Dragon tv series. This is fun. I hope this keeps her attention for a while. (mother of the year, but it's only 9:45 am with a long day ahead of us. I do not want to play "day care" with her and her dollies.)

this is annoying - was forced to call in for a 7am meeting and it lasted 16 minutes.

this is fun - we have a plumber here today because the dishwasher installation guy said that our hot water valve was too corroded to install the pretty new dishwasher. the home warranty (sadly) does not cover the work because our existing fixture is not up to code. so plumber is not only replacing corroded line, but bringing it up to code (apparently the dishwasher needs it's own hot water valve - it's currently connected to the sink) luckily his price was very reasonable, and the dishwasher guy can come back out to install on Thursday. i may have visited the dishwasher in the garage a few times, so it will be exciting having it *inside* the house.

it was cold here last night (mid-30s) but no freezing rain or snow, so no traffic issues.

Good: Old house is getting new carpet for buyers.

Bad: Buyer realtor sucks balls and takes absolutely MAXIMUM time to do anything. Give her 36 hours, it takes 35:57. True story.

Morning. DH and DS come home tonight and I can't wait! I miss them, although it has been nice to have one on one time with DD. Unfortunately for her, I think she is going to have a hard time not having all the attention from me once they are home. Girl loves her momma. STT; I can't wait to BCBC tonight with DH. We have been sending some very explicit emails this week and I am ready.

I am also doing another trip possibly next week. In the meantime, I have to "upskill" myself on lymphomas. As of right now though, I have received no information about said meeting (other than to start preparing myself) so who knows what is going on with it.

And I'm also in the midst of trying to plan/book things for Vegas this weekend. Did you know you can buy tickets for clubs? Because you can. What happened to the days of drinking a bottle of wine in bed while reading a book?

Side note: I have read like 3 books in the last 2 weeks. Before starting medication I was so unfocused and out of it, that I hadn't read a book in probably over a year. I'm making strides.

So now DD is already on a 2 hr delay tomorrow, and there's a winter weather advisory for tomorrow night. The NWS is supposed to issue an update shortly, but the current models are showing anywhere from 3-9" tomorrow night into Thursday morning. Which sounds like another snow day to me.

In the email about tomorrow's 2 hr delay, in addition to the usual verbiage they added "Please note: In anticipation of more inclement weather, [we are] still making decisions about make-up days. We will communicate information in the coming weeks. Given the pending weather conditions for tomorrow, please continue to monitor the [district] website, Facebook and Twitter pages and school websites for updates."

I will be shocked if DD has school on Thursday. DC is a wild card--the owners must need money for something, because they used to close anytime either of the local districts closed, but this year it's been one two-hour delay, and otherwise business as usual.

We had so many snow days last year that they ended up extending our school days for the last 2-ish months of the year in order to avoid being in school through mid-June. We still went beyond the end of the year.

Parents are really complaining about these blizzard bags ("I'm not a teacher!") but I know they would complain more if the kids had to go other days.

It's something new. When we reach so many calamity days the teachers post assignments on-line. The kids get 2 weeks to complete them and then the day doesn't count against them. The state just passed a law that they count school hours instead of days too. In that case they can tack an hour or whatever onto a day to make up school time. Some districts use this, but our teachers don't have that in their contract so we do blizzard bags.

I'm not a fan of homeschooling, but seriously, "I'm not a teacher?" He's in kindergarten, right? Shit, even I can do kindergarten-level.

It's not kinder parents as much as ones with 7th/8th graders. The kids aren't quite self directed and it's new information so it does take a little parent involvement, but from what I understand from the non-eyerollers is the teachers do give classroom help after the snow day.

I just happened to check the last class newsletter from DD's teacher. She has a sight word test tomorrow. I could've been practicing with her all day. Oops.

We got an email from DD's principal. She said that we don't have to worry about makeup days because the school is already 300 hours over the state requirement, due to an extended school year and school day. I guess that's one of the benefits of starting school the first week of August!
