What do I book first, the church or the reception venue?

    You book whatever is more important to you.

    Do you absolutely have to get married in your childhood church, on a Saturday during a certain season? If so, I would book the church first and find a venue later.

    If the church doesnt really matter to you, I would ask why you  want to get married in a church to begin with.

    I kinda went back and forth. I had a time frame and checked with church to see what dates were open, then I went to venue. Before I booked my venue, I doublechecked to make sure the church was free.


    I guess it depends on whether you need a specific church for sure.

    Church was most important to me and I got engaged on a Saturday and called first thing Monday morning. That weekend, we got our venue. But, I've always known exactly where I wanted to have the ceremony and reception so of course that helped.
