Bridesmaids gifts

What are you giving your bridesmaids?

Re: Bridesmaids gifts

  • Shop for bridesmaids gifts like it's their birthday.

My BMs got various things from me, ranging from an apron that said "Will cook for shoes" to running gear to a waterproof fish diving guide depending on their interests.

And remember, anything you're having them wear that you buy them isn't a gift, it's a uniform.  I got really high heels and coordinating jewelry as a "gift" once, and while I would never say anything to the bride they're her taste not mine, and I'm never going to wear either of them again.
  • I got each of my BMs a purse during an awesome sale at Macy's. Then I put fun things in each purse like earrings or a bracelet (depending on their style), lip gloss etc.

I also put things in each purse related to each girl's interests or hobbies. One of them is an obsessive tea drinker so I got her some high-end teas. Another is a world traveler so I got her a leather travel journal. Another is a busy new mom so I got her some nice spa products to relax with. And so on.

Like PP said, shop for each girl individually as if it's her birthday.

  • I got my MOH a hockey jersey she'd been wanting.

PPs are correct - shop for them like it's their birthday and anything used for the wedding (jewelry to wear, robes to get ready in, stuff like that) are not considered gifts to them.

  • Stuff they all wanted - individually.

It's actually a lot easier to shop for them this way. No one wants ANOTHER monogrammed tote bag, wedding jewelry or match robe. *eyeroll*

The company I used for my bridesmaids gift this past fall was Bundled Up (www.BundledUpForYou.com). I used their  "Custom Bundle" feature and got to choose the different gifts that went into each bundle. That way I could make each girls' different.

I was on a pretty tight budget and I got the most stretch for my money with them. I was able to get 2 personalized products for only $30. AND my order was already packaged when I got it. Huge time saver!

  • Shop for your BP like it is their birthday.  Their gifts should also be separate from the wedding, that is, nothing you give them should be required (i.e. buying them jewelry they must wear, etc).

  • You've gotten a lot of good advice on how to shop for your BMs, so I'll just tell you what I got my MoH (only BP member on my side). She's getting a UV water bottle purifier system (link) because she's an avid hiker. She'll love this.
  • Thank you ladies!
  • I am doing cosmetic bags and Alex and Ani bracelets. Most of the girls already have some and like them, so I'm picking ones that have good meanings and make me think of them.
