Wedding Woes

Things for a new month

1. Remember DefConn's daycare teacher that wrote giant red question marks on his papers and cornered DH and me about how DefConn wasn't tracing his name well enough?  She quit.  Also, she was bitchy and/or ignored DH and me after I said something about the red ? on his paper. Can't say I'm upset.

2. DH applied for a position with the VA.  They e-mailed him and said he qualified.  His app is being passed to the hiring coordinator.  We're aware this could be a long process and end up being nothing, but we're hopeful.

3. We are pull-up free day and night.  :)

4. The kiddo bought the most horrid outfit, with his money, this weekend.  DH and I bitched about it this morning during our 'morning call'.  (I call him on my way to drop-off with DefConn to say good morning) DH said he hoped a little bit that one of the kiddo's friends outfit shames him.  ;)

5. My review is today.  I really just want to know if I'm getting a raise and how much.

6. My car's mysterious issue from Friday hasn't reappeared.  I hope it was a one-off.

7.  DH said he thinks his horrid director may be on the way out.  :D ::crossing fingers::

Re: Things for a new month

  • I want to know more about this outfit.  I don't even know what teenage boys are wearing these days.

Also, how did drop off go today?  Any tears?

Pants that look like this, but have a Chicago Bulls logo on them.  And a matching shirt.  We are not Bulls fans or bbal fans in general.  But the Bulls aren't even our local team! I told him I would take him shopping, but he had money burning a hole in his (perfectly acceptable and not ugly) pants.

Drop-off has gone OK the last few days.  I guess he's over his freakouts.  Thank goodness.  He was excited that daddy is probably going to pick him up today.
  • ^^ Hmmm, so these are the "new" zubaz?
    image
  • Ok.  So things haven't changed too much in the last 25 years.
  • If they were just a bit wider in the leg, they'd be hammer pants.

6let bought pink cleats for baseball this year. Dh just smiled and said he Loved them. God help mil if she so much as breathes funny about them.

Dh really thinks his department is going to get bought. that could result in another retention bonus so he's shopping for a new car.
  • those are some fugly pants.

re: #5 - i had my review already, but still have no effing clue what my raise/bonus will be. DK is in the same boat. we usually know by now, so this is pretty annoying. I want to book our pool remodel, dammit.

I know the neighbor kid wears things that look straight out of "Saved by the Bell".  I was all *head tilt* but his mom says he likes them.  And I think they're ugly too.

ETF: IDK where Head of the Class came from.  Was that a show too?  I think that was a show too.
  • Mrs. Conn. Yes, I'm seeing boys wear those and I give them the side eye. They try to wear them at school but they aren't allowed. Too funny.

  • Head of the Class was a show about a teacher in a class full of real smart kids.  The teacher was played by Howard Hessmen from WKRP in Cincinnatti. In the final season, they got a new teacher - - the amazing Billy Connolly.
  • My thing is ridiculous, but anyway.  I moved offices, and the old one had carpeting and one of those vinyl desk mats for my chair.  The new one is all laminate or something, and when I roll my chair over to the little cabinet to get my tea, I am exactly this:

    Alex P Keaton

Also, I broke my longstanding gif boycott to post that, so red letter day, y'all.
  • What do you have against gifs, Heffa?
  • Heffa, that's how I ended up falling out of my chair!
  • What do you have against gifs, Heffa?

The endless looping drives me nuts, for no sane reason.  Probably a brain defect.  But in this case, a gif was worth about 2000 words.
  • Now, I need a Family Ties recap.

  • Nola - I started looking up Head of the Class stuff and got lead into some Family Ties memories...   hmonkey really should quit her job and start a Family Ties recap blog.

I liked Head of the Class. I wish there were more sitcoms for Pre-teens and Teens. I hear 13 years olds talking about Scandal and Empire. Shows with a ton of sex. What happened to the shows where teens were on them and sex was implied.:)

And we wonder why girls are twerking on Youtube, yo.

did you ever see "Secret Life of the American Teenager"? I'm guessing the intended audience was teens but by the end, DK was referring to it as the "Sex Sex Sex show" because it's literally the only thing that people were talking about.
  • Plusalso, those teens looked like teens. Now teens are perfect looking. Where are the awkward looking people?
    image
  • Hm, I'm not sure that part was true, NOLA.  I don't remember any of them having an awkward hair phase or pimples, unless THAT was actually the story.

*looking at late 80s, early 90s junior high hair and BANGS and shuddering*
