Not Engaged Yet

Hello NEY Ladies!

Hi everyone! I'm new here (though I've been lurking on and off for longer than I'd like to admit....ok, it's been years) and I posted in the introductions thread but wanted to post here too because I'm not sure if anyone reads the intros anymore.

Anywho I'm 27, live in Boston with my BF. We've been dating for 8 months and have talked seriously about engagement sometime in 2015. He "officially" moved in last week although he has been more or less living with me since October (I think in the past 5 months he maybe spent 7 nights at his apartment). I love nothing more than a lazy night on my couch watching something incredible on Bravo.....amazingly enough, he agrees. :)

So....I'm excited to be here and make some new friends! Ask me anything!

Re: Hello NEY Ladies!

  • Welcome! I'm a New England girl - born and raised in Maine, and getting married in Connecticut, but I live in Upstate NY.

What's your favorite thing about living in Boston?

Least favorite thing about living in Boston?

    Any pets? (Pictures required.)

Guilty pleasures - movies, music, books?

  • Hi! What's your favorite dessert?
  • What's your favorite thing about living in Boston? Family is close by, and nothing beats Boston weather in May/June or September/October.

Least favorite thing about living in Boston? Right now it's snow. Ask me in July and I will say the lack of central AC in my apartment. Or the general lack of bottomless mimosa brunches.

Any pets? (Pictures required.) 5 year old maltipoo named Lacey (pics attached, I think)

Guilty pleasures - movies, music, books? Love anything on Bravo or TLC and get genuinely invested in these ridiculous amazing shows.
    Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Do you like guacamole? Love guac. Got to have lots of red onion in it, though. I'm about to head to Mexico and have been fantasizing about guac for weeks....

Where did you last travel to for vacation? Went to NYC for a few days over xmas with BF to do all the touristy holiday stuff.

Favorite TV shows? Bachelor, Frasier, Vanderpump Rules, Teen Mom, & Real Housewives top the list.

  • Most annoying habit for both you and SO? His most annoying habit is snoring, hands down. He would probably say my most annoying habit is that I will only watch sitcoms at bedtime. He always wants to fall asleep to a movie and for some reason, I just can't.

    Favorite Dessert? Cupcakes

Favorite vacation spot? Anywhere warm and tropical!

Hi! What's your favorite dessert? See above.

Sorry for the multiple replies. Just figured out you can quote multiple people in 1 reply.

  • @labro - GREAT QUESTIONS! Although you really should have included Jeffrey Dean Morgan in there somewhere. He seems like one of the best reasons to go to Ireland, IMO.

What's the sexiest thing your SO says with his Irish accent? Ummm...everything? Haha no but in all seriousness it's hard to pinpoint one thing....from time to time he will call me "love" and that always gets me. I think that's more just because it's not "American" (as in I don't think people here use it as a pet name as much as we do honey or baby).

Is your SO FROM Ireland (as in born there) or are his parents? If he's FROM Ireland, when and why did he come to the US? Yup, his whole family is actually still over there. He came to America in 2012 after a bad breakup (wanted a change of pace and new scenery) and stayed after getting a job here.

Tell us something interesting/fascinating about marketing "feminine care" products. Is there anything surprising you've learned about marketing them? The most surprising thing has been seeing the different things people search for in relation to the products I market. Basically, there are people out there with fetishes for everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Other than that...it's what you'd imagine: lots of conference calls discussing thong liners vs panty liners and super tampons vs regular tampons.

Is your SO Gerard Butler and does he have an inoperable brain tumor that will eventually lead you to travel to Ireland to rediscover yourself? Yes, how did you know!?

Where are you going in mexico? And when! Going to Puerto Vallarta with parents and sister (sadly this was booked when BF and I had just started dating, so he wasn't included) on Saturday! I cannot wait.

I agree with @AlPacina -- great questions! I'm probably more of a Gerard Butler fan than JDM, but it's really hard to go wrong.

You have to change your first name, what would you change it to? Leah (I love the sound of the letter L)

What is your favorite color? Why isn't it orange or purple? I tend to gravitate towards earth tones, for the most part (boring!). But my house has exposed brick and I have olive skin so I feel like those colors coordinate well with my surroundings (now I sound like a chameleon). But for something fun (like a manicure or a cocktail) I like a nice bright pink. Purple would be a close second. ;)
