Help with Venues

I'm looking at several venues this weekend and I was trying to see if anyone had any comments on any of the following venues i.e. price (were they negotiable?), dealing with staff, responsiveness, food, and how the venue looked. I am hoping to book for May 28, 2016 for 150+ people. Any little information helps. Thanks

Venues--
Clarks Landing Yacht Club
The Metropolitan Room
Waterside Restaurant and Catering
West mount Country Club
Crystal Point Yacht Club
The Royal Manor
IL Villagio
Addison Park
Shadowbrook

Re: Help with Venues

  • My engagement party was at the Waterside last weekend and I would 100% recommend it to anyone!  I have no complaints about it - the venue itself is gorgeous, staff was great and attentive the entire night, guests were raving about the food.  We had approximately 100 people there and had our party on the 3rd floor.  We worked with Shantel who was very helpful to us.  They do have different pricing options depending on your food selection and alcohol preference, so it would be worth it to look at everything they have to offer to see what works best for you!  I can't comment on the other venues, but I had a great experience with the Waterside!

  • Thank you so much for the information.
  • Hi! Congrats on your engagement. I looked at a few of those places when deciding on my wedding. The prices I got below were for 250 people for winter 2016 on a Sat night. All without taxes and service charges

-Royal Manor: $150 (uplighting extra, Venetian hour included)
    -IL Vilagio: $100

Out of those 2 both were very nice, I liked Royal Manor look better. The staff at IL Vilagio seemed very accommodating, my cousin had her bridal shower there and the staff was very good. Both were able to negotiate some for price. My co-worker recently looked at Westmount for fall 2016 (she said most spring dates are booked already). For Sat night over 250/pp and for Friday I think around 200. I did not go there myself.

    Best of Luck!
  • Congratulations!! Here are some details from my own search that can hopefully help you out with your list:

Clarks Landing priced me for a May 2016 wedding at $293pp (all in) for a Saturday night with a minimum of 150 people; $242pp for a Friday night. I LOVED the venue, but the pricing was just ridiculous in my opinion. (and could be put towards a Fiji honeymoon instead, haha). Their cocktail hour is exquisite and they have really awesome touches, like Vera Wang china, centerpieces included, but then charge for little things like a different color in linens that they or to change the color of the lighting already in the ceiling.

Westmount CC - there are high minimums (at least 200+ for their small rooms) for peak season. You also need to use their in-house florist, etc. Some don't care, but something to keep in mind. I've read really fabulous reviews - they host more than one wedding at the same time, though (not sure if this is something you care much about).

Addison Park - I think it's beautiful, the bigger ballroom is really pretty and I've been to a wedding here  - their food has mixed reviews. I opted not to book with them solely based on my experience with one of the managers who comes off very slimey (and I'm apparently not alone in this regard) and a decent amount of brides who were not the happiest in their wedding there. Two weddings can be held at the same time and they share one bathroom. Be careful and know what you want and will settle for prior. Their pricing for a Friday and Saturday night in May is $215pp (all in) with a minimum of 150 and that is the base package.

Crystal Point Yacht Club - I attended a wedding here and my sister looked at it for her wedding a few years back. It's pretty. They are very reasonably priced. They also allow 3 weddings at one time which is a huge turn off. Do not use the motel rooms that are on the same lot - I can't explain how they are just not what you want yourself or your guests to experience. Try for one of the hotels located in Lakewood about 15 minutes down the road.

Shadowbrook - was in a wedding here in their main ballroom. It was beautiful, yet dark and slightly dated (wood paneling, dark fixtures and linens). The room was oddly shaped where part of the guests are divided by a partial room divider and they could not see each other when seated. The grounds and the drive up to the mansion are truly picturesque though. The downstairs ballroom should be avoided.

    Good luck!!

Hi! I am getting married at Addison Park in September. Our pricing for a Friday night 6-hour cocktail reception, including venetian hour, is $155pp all in. I believe we are saving $15pp for doing a cocktail reception versus sit down dinner and another $20pp for a Friday night. So figure a seated Saturday night runs about $190pp all in, including a venetian hour (which is $20-25pp), $170pp without. I believe this is their "in-season" pricing and is the same from March-November. They are non-negotiable, though we alter the menu to add/take away whatever we want as long as its in the same or similar budget. We do have a 150 person minimum.

So far dealing with them has been a breeze. I am working with Ed, who is wonderful. Upfront and honest about all of our decisions without being pushy. Any little question we have they answer without issue.

The venue is gorgeous (just google it) and my understanding is the food is delicious and abundant. We just had our food tasting and everything was awesome! The only downside is that there will be 2 weddings at the same time, and we will be sharing a bathroom. But in my opinion, who cares? There will be plenty of guests that don't know each other - who cares if they see strangers in the bathroom? That's just my opinion; I know others will disagree.

My only advise is book ASAP if you are interested in Addison Park. We went looking in June 2014 for September 2015 and had limited options.

  • We booked WCC for April 2016- the small room requires 150 people on a Friday/sunday and 175 on a Saturday so if you're really dead set on May 28 you would need to guarantee at least 175 adults (excluding vendors and children).  We loved the venue from the second we walked in and when we had called to set up appointments to visit and come back to book the staff was great.  We are planning on heading back in a few weeks to look at the venue around the same time our wedding will be next year before we meet with the florists (you must use 1 of their 3 preferred florists).

I would advise if you are looking for a Saturday in late May of next year... no matter where you look.... to go soon as venues fill up quickly- especially for peak season :)

  • We are getting married October 2015 at the IL Villaggio...  I highly recommend them! Patrick is beyond accommodating.  The place is beautiful and the food is to die for!!!  You wouldn't be  disappointed and neither will any of your guests.  You get sooooooooo much for the price too!

    Good Luck!!!

  • @katyamarie congratulations on booking your wedding. I'm recently engaged and I'm interested in WCC for October 2016 if you don't mind me asking what you were quoted at?
  • I am getting married at Clarks Landing. I fell in love with the venue and the staff immediately. They are very pricey but I am getting married off season and on a Sunday which helped fit our budget. I went to a wedding at Crystal Point Yacht Club about 7 years ago. I remember the venue was nice and I enjoyed the cocktail hour they had. Congratulations and good luck!
