Bad manicure

I went to a new nail place for a no-chip manicure on Saturday. Today, 1 nail is badly chipped. It wasn't a high-end salon and I didn't get a receipt. I probably won't go back regardless because I didn't love the atmosphere and don't think they did a great job overall.

Is it reasonable to go back and ask them re-do the one nail? I don't want another manicure but I'd love to have them fix the nail that's messed up.

If your manicurist is present I don't see an issue with going in and asking for them to fix it.

Seconded. Typically, if it happens within a few days, there is absolutely no problem.

  • I'd definitely go back and ask them to fix it.
  • I'll head back tonight then. Thanks!

  • sorry OP :( I got a mani on Saturday at a place I always go to. Tried a new polish (Essie's new cashmere matte collection: "wrap me up.") I usually love Essie but three of my nails were already chipping 24 hours later and today I'm seriously thinking of taking the polish off and painting them myself. So annoying.

  • I don't see any problem with this. I would do the same thing.

I'd definitely get it fixed, but call first & ask to speak to a manager. Explain yourself and ask if you can come in to get it fixed --- let them sort it out.

  • Good call.

So what's my window for returning? I'm not sure if I'll make it home from work today before they close for the night.

  • Absolutely go back. I'd call them today, and ask if you can go in tomorrow. Is it a gel polish manicure? Or just regular polish that is not supposed to chip? Regular polish is very easy and will take no time, but the gel polish they will have to remove it and then reapply which will take longer. Try to get them to set aside time so you have an appointment if that is the case.

I would call them today and let them know about the issue. Let them know that you can't make it in today, and that you will be in tomorrow.

It's a gel polish. No chip manicures usually last until they grow out but these 2 fingers are bugging me!

  • Oh if it's gel, you're certainly within the acceptable timeframe.

Call, speak to a manager, and let them know that you had it done on Saturday, and that two nails have chipped already.  They should tell you to come in and have it fixed.

Yup. This is exactly what I would do.
