Escort Card. Placement card, favor combo

I always liked the idea of the favor having a combined purpose while still being meaningful. The biggest challenge with that is to make it a non edible thing while still being people could potentially want.

My idea was to roll up a photo and use that as an escort card, Before the comment of "no one is going to want a photo of the couple in their household" is given, I would like to say I agree. I would be giving a photo of something that guest would enjoy in their home. For instance some family likes fishing so I could print some lake shots, friends that are more modern can have a geometric design. This would cost about $1-2 per guest with photo paper and ink cartridges.

As a place card I was thinking of a photo frame with the guest's name inside on the back of the chair. Inside could possibly be a letter to that guest thanking them for coming to the event as well as being a part of my FI and I's life. I can get decent frames from the dollar store or in bulk online. Even if the guest doesn't like the picture given, most people would use a frame for something else.

Is this a wasteful trinket or a decent idea? I know the general consensus is an edible gift, but I am not good at cooking and want to have as much hands on as possible.

How many guests are you having? This all sounds like entirely too much work. Plus, guests often prefer to choose their own seat at a table, so place cards are unnecessary. And at the risk of sounding stuck up, I would have no use in my home for a dollar store frame.

You can be hands on without cooking. We did candy bags with little "thank you" tags that I had stamped and embossed.

I think this definitely depends on how many guests/escort cards you're talking about. I like the photo frame/letter idea a ton, but it is a LOT of work, even for a smaller wedding. But hey, if you're up for it, I'd find that very thoughtful, and I would probably still use the frame afterward.
  • Where would you be getting the photos? It could potentially be a copyright issue.

  • To be honest, it sounds like a waste of time. If someone gave me a random picture of a lake, because I like to fish I'd be confused. Especially if it had no meaning to me.

If you're going to go to all that work, the only thing SIMILAR to that I would even suggest would be to print off pics of either YOU or your FI with that specific guest, although I wouldn't roll them up either, you may ending up wrecking the photo, so just put them in the frames if you're gonna do that, have those at the seats, and then just have regular escort cards. You could make the escort cards look like Polaroids to continue the photo theme. Or something.
