So I work for a very small timeshare/guest house place in NOLA. It has 18 rooms. Small rooms. Filled with large old antique furniture. I think too large, but that is what boss-man likes.
So I got an email from guests checking in next weekend. The email says they 2 rooms they rented are for babysitting during a receptions. Umm, okay?
First we do not have a banquet area. So that means the wedding is either next door or at one of the places across the street. I'm just guessing though.
They are asking (demanding) for conjoining rooms. Which makes sense, however THEY DO NOT EXIST AT OUR LOCATION. None, zero. Not only that we have a narrow building with all the rooms on the same side. Add in timeshare owners get to use their deeded room. Well, I'm very limited on moving guests around to even get them on the same floor, let alone next to each other.
They want an early check-in to baby-proof the unit (as in 10 or 11am). Yeah, well we are 100% full the night before. We only have 1-2 housekeepers. Early check-ins are not guaranteed. Being NOLA, you can imagine guests are not normally running out the door early. Nope they complain about our 10 am check-out.
Let's got back to baby-proofing. Yeah, as I said these rooms are small with lots of big furniture. There is little room for kids to be running around. They want to move lamps and stuff. Yeah, good luck with that.
God this sounds anti-kids, but I don't our rooms used as a day care.
UPDATE - they just told me the wedding reception is about 7 blocks away. Yeah, this sounds like awesome planning.
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
