help me, I'm bored.

So we listed our house for sale today. Within about 2 hours I got a frantic call from my agent asking how soon I could get a key in the lockbox, because he has SIX REQUESTS for showings tonight. As my H tried to tell him to go ahead in through the back door, I was realized NO! MY UNDERWEAR IS STILL ON THE FLOOR!!

I had to rush home from work, pick up the laundry, make the bed, wipe down the counters, pack up the dogs, and GTFO. Now after all that scramble, I have nothing to do for 2 hours+ waiting for all those people to finish. I already ate tacos. There are 8 more showings tomorrow but at least most of them are while I'm at work!

So... talk to me?

  • HI ASHLEY!

Lynda I'm dying at that story. We have 3 offers already so hopefully no more surprises! Doing highest and best by Saturday at noon.

  • WOW! That's fantastic.

We're talking to a restaurant about our reception! It's higher than I *want* to pay, but it's not ridiculous or out of budget. I'm just annoyed that I can't get non-Italian food for Italian prices haha. I'm waiting on the event menu to come though to decide if I want to chase it.

It would probably be a dry reception though. :( I sat down the other day with FI and tried to figure out who among our guest would be drinking, and it included us, my middle sister, and our two best friends. It doesn't seem worth it to pay $75 to set up a bar for 5 people to use.

  • Go buy some baby books, see a movie, walk those dogs, people watch and debate over how many sexual partners each passerby has had and why, etc.

  • I'm bored too. I'm sick and I can't think of any movies I want to watch. I would binge watch Gilmore girls but I can't find the cable to hook up my dvd player. New laptops don't have a dvd/cd option anymore! Boo!

I didn't want to leave the dogs in the car too long cuz they'd go crazy. I did get ice cream at Menchies though. Home now!

  • I feel your pain @lolo883. Had a bunch of potential renters asking to see my place this week so I had to get my shit together quick. And then keep everything perfectly clean for three days. Ugh. On the bright side one of them agreed to take over my lease, and her move-in date works out perfectly for me.

@Hellosweetie1015 I want to know about the food too. And there's nothing wrong with a dry reception, but could the few people who want drinks order through a tab at the restaurant bar, so you don't have to pay the set-up fee?

I dunno much about it. The restaurant came pretty highly recommended by FILs but I've never eaten there. He's sending me a sample event menu soon, but their dinner menu looks great. They have a French burger that I am kind of dying to try. Smoked ham, fried Brie, and raspberry pepper jelly.

Hopefully we can try it next time we go down there. I'm excited.

Eta I really need to keep reading before I post replies. @blabla89 I dunno if that's an option, but it's definitely a thought I hadn't had! I haven't gotten to sit down and knock out details with their event manager yet, but I'll mention it. If all else fails, we'll have a dry reception and then move on to another place for an after party that I really wanted more for the reception, but isn't handicap accessible and so got the axe.

Yay for an offer over asking price!

You had me at brie. And really, your wedding wouldn't be legitimate without it.

Oh I totally agree. I simply couldn't get married without some semi-fancy cheese. It's one of the two requirements, right? Cheese and a groom?

Wow, I could've written this post. H makes fun of me bc I used to bring my Gilmore Girls DVDs with me on trips. He kept telling me my next laptop wouldn't have a drive and I should rip them onto something. I resisted. He was right.

I have an external reader for CDs/DVDs. It was worth it.
