Wedding Woes

Friday Randoms

It's been awhile since I actually did a Randoms:

1)  Charcoal or Gas?  I'm talking grills.  I want both, is that greedy?  I am the main/only griller at my house, so---I'm needing some  personal recs if you have them.

2)  H and SIL were talking about "having" to throw MIL a 60th bday party.  And neither of them wants to, in fact NONE of the kids do.  But they KNOW that if they don't she'll disown them.  To which, I reply:  Is that a BAD thing?

3)  I'm at work, hardly working---and I kinda don't care.  It's about 2 weeks from being an all out FCKFEST because weather will break, the ground will thaw and every man for themselves.  Seriously.  Plusalso---I think 2015 will be the year where I come into my own....and realize what I do, do not know, and what I and do not like.  I'm feeling it, yo.

Re: Friday Randoms

  • We went ahead and bought gas.  It's more convenient, cleaner, and easier to manage while cooking.  Sometimes we talk about getting a small charcoal just for flavor, but we never have.

I broke down and bought the Wen shampoo.  I've washed my hair twice.  So far, I like it.  My hair has a long way to go back to fully healthy, so I'm holding off on OMG it's great! but I can tell it's clean, it's soft, it has volume, and it's not breaking as much, so yay for those things.

I'm getting a finger wave put in for Drag Race.  I'm so excited, my dresses/jewelry should be coming in, I've got my shoes, I have a coupon for a free makeover @ Sephora that I'm debating using for that day, and now my hair-do planned.  I haven't had this much fun planning an outfit and night out since the rehearsal dinner/renewal.  :D  DH is being awfully sweet in humoring me on this.
  • Charcoal or gas doesn't have to be either/or.  They make hybrids:

I was just going to suggest a hybrid!  They had several at Lowe's the last time we were in.
  • We prefer charcoal.  DH is buying a Oklahoma Joe smoker this summer, I think.

We're having a surprise 60th for my dad.  It's going to be a big to-do at this restaurant/bar/venue place with a private room. My FIL turned 60 last month and we just went over to their house to hang out.  I tried to do something bigger, but no one wanted to and I sure as hell wasn't going to plan and organize it myself.

Plumbing can suck it.  I just had my whole arm in the toliet trying to figure out why it won't flush.  I'm hoping that just the tank parts need to be replaced, but honestly, a whole new toilet isn't that much.  And I missed my work out screwing with it.  My floor is covered in toilet water soaked towels.  Saving grace is that it's the downstairs toilet, in the laundry room, and there's a drain in the floor.

I'm still stewing a little over a disagreement  DH and I had last night.  I'm hoping we can talk it out tonight or in the car tomorrow.

I'm close to having enough shopkick rewards for a $50 sephora gift card.  I need new foundation and I want to buy this face oil that I got as a sample.

  • Also, I've gotten myself and my Page banned from another Page b/c trolling lying liars who lie is fun.  I may or may not be creating another Page to continue this.

And I turned in my application to become a Humanist Celebrant.  I'm nervous, excited, and worried.  I don't know how things will go down and if they really refuse people, but we'll see.
  • I have the randomest random of all.

Yesterday, our HR manager and general manager came in and halfway shut my office door.  Part of me was like "Hmmm," and part was like "Oh fuck, here we go again, do I need to get a box to pack up my stuff?"  LSS, there is some dude who works out in our welding shop, who wants to lodge some sort of anonymous complaint.  And because I'm on one of these employee survey teams (voluntold), they decided to pick me to be his...amateur therapist?  Confessor?  Pretend friend?  I seriously don't know.  Anyhoo, this guy will be in my office at 1:30, and I'm sure it will go swimmingly.  [cough, cough]
  • Oh, and that will be my second random meeting today.  Someone from corporate (who sometimes works out of our office) brought in a friend's 8th grader for job shadowing.  Usually, in my experience, that means they're your problem, but she has decided to foist her off on a series of people for 20-ish minutes at a time.  She seemed like a really nice kid, but I kept mine really brief, because a) things to do, and b) Friday.
  • We have charcoal. I don't find it to be that difficult to get started and it isn't too messy. But I say that as someone who almost never starts up the grill. My only complaint is size. My parents have this awesome gas grill and it's huge. It's not practical to have a gigantic charcoal grill.

I am on the fence about upping my gym thing. It's expensive for what it is but I can only do 8 classes a month otherwise I pay out for additional classes. But I LOVE it, and I'm not as motivated to get up and workout on my own in the morning as I am when I have a class scheduled. But the next step up, which is unlimited classes, is like $70 more a month and that is really a lot more than what I want to spend. First world problems yo!

DH and I were talking about doing a weekend trip to Vegas in the next couple of months. The idea of sleeping in, eating buffets, and walking around is really appealing to me. I feel like a fat lazy American tourist though. We could do something way more adventurous but meh.

I am doing a makeup gift exchange with a group of people and I had a $50 limit. I went over that. Oh well...I hope she likes it.
  • We have always had charcoal.  I don't really care that much; it wouldn't hurt my feelings if we had a gas grill, but OMG DH will never buy a gas grill.  Charcoal = flavor, dammit.

I just got home from dropping Son at school, going to Target and going to grocery store.  I wandered the stores by myself for more than 2 hours.  I really enjoyed it but now that I'm home and have to go pick up DD1 at school in an hour (early out today for end of the quarter/beginning of Spring Break), I'm sad that I didn't take advantage of being in the house by myself a little more.
  • Four friends had babies in the last week. My FB and IG is so full of newborn squish. I just prepped a box of teeny things for one of my oldest friends and his wife.  I'm so stinking happy for them and their son is just adorable. Makes me want another just a teensy bit.

My cell phone company's CEO just sent me a handwritten TY note for being a client for X number of years.  That is some admirable customer service.

  • Hi guys! I can't believe I remembered my login. I have nowhere to be today, but cleaning my house is no fun so I thought I'd check in.

We have a giant charcoal grill/smoker (Big Green Egg). It takes forever to get up to heat, so it's not really practical for doing quick things like burgers or steaks. We're renovating our house, and will be building in a gas grill, with space for the Egg and possibly another smoker. My H is a little crazy with the grilling.
