AW WR Hair Trial Take Two!

Hi guys!

I went for my second hair trial last Saturday, and I also did a Makeup Trial. I attached a bunch of pictures.

I might want to tweak some things still, but I was much happier with the service I received. They tweaked things while I was there, and seemed very interested in changing things to make me happy. And they just seemed more professional/ together. So, I gave them my deposit!

I think the "bump" may be a bit too much for me (a little too snooki maybe?), but also... volume is good, especially for shorties like me, so I'm a bit torn. And maybe the headpiece should be a bit closer to my forehead/ not quite as far back? As for makeup, I'm wondering if a slightly less peachy pink/ more neutral lip/ cheeks would be better, and if maybe she should use dark brown eyeliner instead of black? (the ceremony starts at 11:30, reception ends at 5:00.) But, on the whole, I think things looked better.

ps- hair extensions didn't end up working out, but that's okay. Also, my face was totally broken out, and it seems like that was covered up pretty well. The makeup artist was like "honey, you need to moisturize and exfoliate! And you should wax your eyebrows twice before the event so the eyeshadow lays better"

So I've started using my Neutragena moisturizer again, and I even bought some "peel pads" from the salon to gently exfoliate. FI's cousin told me she got facials every 5 weeks for 5 months before her wedding. So, I booked  my first facial as well as an eyebrow wax with the salon. I feel a bit like they hook, line, and sinked me into spending more money but... oh well. I should be taking better care of my skin, for sure. I also bought some eye cream. Just burt's bee's sensitive eye cream (for like, $14), but I figure that's good enough to start with.

pps- that's FI in the mirror reflection. Isn't he cute? :)

Re: AW WR Hair Trial Take Two!

  • It looks so much better than the last place!!  Glad they took their time with you and gave you some tips.

  • I like this one SO much better! It's very pretty!! Also, I don't think the bump is too much, definetly not snookie-esque

  • This looks SOOOO much better! You look very classic and regal-- I love it! As for the eyeliner, I think it looks fine. I wear black eyeliner every day and actually switch to brown when I'm doing a more dramatic eye, so the color is really personal preference, not time of day. I think the way it's done now will look really great and will photograph well. Your hair looks fantastic too-- I love the bump! I promise you don't look like Snooki at all!

  • This looks so much better! I'm glad you got better service as well.
  • Your hair looks amazing!! Much better than the other place. Maybe try brown? I use brown eyeliner daily and love it because I'm so pale. It seems to lighten me up more than black. Also your FI looks so happy, even just in the mirror reflection. So cute!! :)

  • You look great! I'm glad you were happy with this place. I would stick with the colours they used; since everything is during the day it would look a lot more natural and fresh. And the hair bump is definitely fine, it looks like normal updo volume, don't worry!

  • @blackbird230 FI is almost always a happy/ chill guy... and he's the best person I know! I wish I was more like him! And I'm glad I could show him off a bit here haha

@ blackbird @eillis1228  I use brown liquid liner to do a baby cat eye every day, so I'm used to dark brown, and I think it makes my eyes look more "open" then black. But then... it's for the wedding day! So maybe black/ a touch more drama is good. Thanks for your opinions! It really helps to get outside perspective.

Don't change anything! It looks great. Def not too snookie, and I think the black liner looks great. It may look darker IRL, but makeup photographs a bit softer.

eta - I also really like where the headpiece is. It all just looks so good!

  • SO pretty!! Definitely not too much of a poof. It looks gorgeous!

I love your makeup too - simple, but very very pretty.

I think you look beautiful! And I think the bump height and headband placement are actually perfect....I wouldn't scoot the headband forward any further. I guess the black eyeliner is a little much for me, but I'm also not a daily make-up wearer and you are, so what they did makes sense and looks very pretty.

  • You look stunning!  I agree that the hair is so much better than the first place that you went to.  It's beautiful, and very elegant.  I love the bump, and wouldn't change that at all.  Your makeup looks amazing.  I don't think I would change the colors at all.  It looks very fresh and classy.
  • Agreed, love this so much more than the last time! The bump does not look snookie-esque to me.  I think you look absolutely gorgeous! The bump height and headband are at a perfect placement, and I think your makeup compliments your skin tone.

  • You look great! They did a much better job, and I agree with PP's that the bump is NOT snooki-esque at all! I have never been into facials but would like to know if you notice any improvements in your skin, as I might start getting them too. I do use products from Origins and Fresh on my skin and those seem to work well, but improvement is definitely needed still.

  • You look AMAZING. Don't change a thing!

  • Thanks guys!

@aurorarose41 I've never had a facial either! If it doesn't make my face go crazy (I have really sensitive skin), I figure I'll have another a week or so before the wedding. And then afterwards probably only as very special treats if I enjoy them. Like manicures/ pedicures. Which I barely ever do (I can count on one hand the number of times I've had one!). I'm kind of a super duper frugal person haha,.

I'll definitely let you know if I notice improvement! Though, I probably won't be able to say for sure if it's the facial that caused improvement or me actually sticking to a face regimen  (remove makeup, rinse, cleanse, moisturize, eye cream, exfoliate 3 days a week rather than just removing makeup with wipes, rinsing with water, and going to bed which I've been doing way too long!)
  • So pretty! I don't think the bump is too much either!

  • Girl, you look amazing! I love the make-up and the up-do came out much better than your first trial. I would have made a deposit too. Love it!
  • image=/= your hair bump. I would go with this salon! The stylist did a wonderful job with your hair, and you look regal, and I would keep it just the way it is! Your make up looks beautiful! If you aren't sure about the eyeliner, you could go with @blackbird320s suggestion of using brown pencil versus black.

As for the facial, I agree with having it done at least a week to two weeks prior to the wedding. I break out super easy and have found that if the person knows what they are doing, my skin will remain clear for some time. If you have cystic acne, I would recommend scheduling an appointment with a dermatologist two to three days before your wedding to have them take care of any major pimples just in case you have a severe stress break out or something. You can always cancel it.

You seriously look amazing, and I am really excited to see pictures from your wedding!
  • Just here to add that I agree with everyone else- everything looks PERFECT! The makeup, your hair, headband, everything!

  • lilacck28 let the salon know you have sensitive skin so they use gentle products.  I used to get facials all the time and never had a reaction .

  • I didn't see the first trial - but I love everything about this look. I don't think any of it is too much. I personally wouldn't change anything!

And your fi is super adorable! He looks so happy!!

@aurorarose41 I had the facial-- she used Aveda products, and I didn't break out into itchy red bumps! It was relaxing, felt good, and my skin looked pretty awesome for a few days afterwards. Kind of smoother and glowy-like.

My skin still looks fairly good today, four days later. I still have some small pimples :( But I seem to be an unavoidable hormonal break out-er. Not full on acne, but I get spots and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it! Of course, I'm still learning to stick to the regimen and be better to my skin, so maybe that will help in the future.

I'll probably get another facial (plus wax brow and lip) closer to my wedding. I think if you can actually afford to spend $80+ a month to get facials, then it probably would help your skin quite a bit, and it's definitely a treat!

Short story: one facial was really nice, but I don't think it has more than short term benefits.  I think a bunch of facials would probably help make for great looking skin though.
