Jumping on that timeline train..

12 days away! I've struggled with the pre-reception timeline a bit, so I'm open to thoughts and suggestions. Everything is at one location - getting ready, pics, ceremony, reception...

11:00am Bride and groom set up small details at reception space
11:45am BMs, MOB, MOG arrive at suite
12:00pm HMU arrives
12:30pm Lunch delivered
3:30 BMs get dressed
4:00 photographer arrives, getting ready pictures
4:30 bride gets in dress (not sure about this timing?? dress is a corset, FWIW)
5:00 First look
5:15 - 5:45 Bridal party/family photos
6:15pm Ceremony
6:45pm (or at conclusion of ceremony) reception space opens, bar opens
7:05 Bride/Groom entrance, first dance (2 minutes of song)
7:08ish cut the cake
7:10 buffet opens, toasts, open dancing at conclusion of dinner
11:00pm end reception

  • Just a note about the dress timing: my seamstress recommended that i put my dress on, cinch it up, them hang out in it 10 minutes, then tighten it again. It stretches a bit with body heat and just being on you, so if your dress is similar, you may want to do that too. Then remember, once it's on, you may not want to sit down before pictures so you don't wrinkle the back. I think your 30 minutes is fine, and allows some time to get into it then arrange details and veil

That's a good point about re-tightening it... I imagine after moving around a bit things will loosen up and I definitely want to be cinched up tight! Thanks for the input!

  • I would add 15 minutes to the photos prior to ceremony. 45 minutes may seem like a lot, but the time goes quickly. To help, provide your photographer with a list of all the must get groupings for photos and have them in an order where they can flow easily, like do all of your family Then combined w/parents, then all his family & then any photos with all the BM & then all photos you want with GM & then all combined BM & GM photos., etc. Worst case scenerio, you end up ok with time & have a few minutes to relax, freshen up your lipstick and breath before the ceremony.
