Do TK articles bother anyone else?

#2 on this list...this is why people think it's ok.

Also, so many articles about BP "duties". Hey TK, send your writers over here so they can stop confusing people!

  • I can't even.

  • Yep. I pretty much ignore everything on TK that isn't from the forums. It's worthless.

  • Oh haven't you noticed so much nonsense all over the web! I hate this new trend, the headlines like:

She Bought A Dresser From A Thrift Store and You Won't Believe What Was In The Bottom Drawer!

    or

He Looked into the Sky and You Won't Believe What Happened Next!

It's all just to get your eyeballs!

I'm glad I found the fun forums!

Unfortunately a lot people go by what TK posts.

  • Yes, thank goodness for the forums. I would have become completely overwhelmed if I had tried to plan a wedding after reading the articles on TK. The forums taught me that everything is very simple: invite the people you care about, get married in front of them, throw a fun party with food (and maybe alcohol), pay for everything, and let your guests (including your bridal party) do whatever they want. It's become my mantra. I've been well-trained.

By the way, TK's timeline is all wonky too. Regarding invitations, it says you should "get them out before the 3 month mark!"

I DID get completely overwhelmed by TK's articles. I sat outside with my mom one day at lunch just BAWLING over how our wedding was going to be "crappy and awful because we can't afford a DJ and a cocktail hour and a huge fancy cake and goddammit why are flowers so fucking expensive and I hate all of this and why can't we just run away and get married? I just want to be MARRIED I don't CARE about the rest of this SHIT I just want to be married."

Thankfully, I'm not going to have a crappy, awful wedding, because TKForums set me straight.

I also won't have flowers, because goddammit why are flowers so fucking expensive? They grow out of the damn ground. Fucking anybody can grow a flower.

  • I stopped reading the articles once I found the forums.

Aside from the checklist, I only used TK for inspiration and forums

Yeah, WHY are flowers so fucking expensive?!?!? I'm getting a bouquet for me and a boutonniere for FI and my dad. That's it. I see no point whatsoever in spending hundreds (or thousands!) on something that will be enjoyed for a few hours and then wilt and get thrown away.

EXACTLY. I called a florist and asked their base price for a bouquet and it was $100. FUCK no. That's freaking my entire decor budget. Fuck that noise.

You all are making me really start to dread my future flower planning...how soon in advance should I do that?

I was laying budget groundwork so this was almost a year ago. After I got the quote, I nixed the flowers entirely. I feel like the timelines I looked at said 6-8 months out though. I could be wrong. TK's timeline wasn't terrible before the update so that may help you.

My florist went out of business 2 months before my wedding. I was able to get another one. My sister is getting her flowers from Stop and Shop.

Wow. TK timeline is a little crazy. I'm guessing this necessary is for brides who are really picky and want THE BEST florist in town or want that specific exotic flower that only blooms once a year in Tibet. But I'm planning on using a small, local florist and when I called them they said they'd just need a few weeks notice to plan and make a bouquet and two boutonnieres.

Or if they're doing 20 huge floral centerpieces. I dunno, I could be wrong about that. I pretty much ignored the timelines I found after I figured out what we were doing. So much of it was not relevant for us.
