Centerpieces - DIY, Event Planner or Florist

Hi brides to be, so I'm getting closer to my June wedding and had originally thought I would get my flowers from a florist and do all the "extras" around it on my own (candles, votives, glitter, etc) but now that my guest list is larger i can't imagine me doing 18 tables of that stuff.

Did you all decide to just book and event planner to do it all?
Did you find a florist who could do flowers, candles, the entire thing?

wondering what my best bet is for this.
who did you go with in NJ?

We just used a florist who did the centerpieces.  We had no "extras"....we let the centerpieces stand on their own.  We also didn't want the tables crowded with all the place settings and food!

When you said you would get your flowers from a florist, do you mean just the flowers (and you would arrange them) or would you have them put together a centerpiece?  Because if you want them to put together centerpieces and you don't have someone, you need to get going and book someone!  Florists can only do so many events each day and they can book up.

We didn't want any DIY and I don't like to pay for something I can easily research on my own (so an event planner was out), so for us a florist was the way to go.  We told them what we wanted and they delivered.  If you haven't already, speak to one, tell them what you want, and see what they can do.

    PS - Skip the glitter!
  • We have a friend who has a floral shop, so we are confident we can get the large centerpieces at a great price, we are meeting with them this weekend, but i am not sure they will offer candles and such. for taht i was going to bring those extras to the hall and have them set those up around the floral centerpieces. for the votive candles i had bought glass holders and was goign to decorate those with gold glitter myself. will take time to do but will look nice. the florist woudl have the flowers delivered to the hall for set up

in the end though im ready to just find someone to do it all.
  • I am having around 250 guest so we arrange that to be about 25 tables so we went to Michael's and bought a hurricane candle and having our florist work with it so to put arrangements around it.
  • Our florist is taking care if the votive candles around our tall Centerpieces and all of the bases and floating candles for our low Centerpieces. There is no need to pay an event coordinator of your florist can take care of all of this...which most can and do. Especially if the florist is a friend they should be able to accommodate and set everything up for you.
  • thanks all i am glad to hear this, looking forward to meeting with them saturday to finalize this. one more thing off the list!
  • I am going with Adam Leffel/ Petals Premier.
You should check them out, they are doing my flowers, and provide the floating candles, and all votives. I dont think there was a charge for the candles, etc. They are great to work with and VERY talented. Also, they came in the cheapest of all of the florists we checked..
  • I let our florist handle all of that.  I had extra votive candles left over from my shower that I dropped off at the venue with all the other stuff.  I told our banquet manager to use them wherever.  To be honest I don't even remember if they put them out but I just wanted them out of my house lol

I certainly didn't have time to put them out myself.

  • @pce Thanks for the recommendation I just contacted them as I live in Saddle Brook so nice and close!

May I ask where you got your bridesmaid dresses from?
  • FutureMrsShermister Let me know what you think, they were great, I go for my preview in 2 weeks I cant wait!!
I actually ended up ordering my bridesmaid dresses from http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com,
It was very smooth process, I had picked out the dress I wanted, etc, and they ended up beating the prices by 70$ from most places I looked... They dont place the order until all of your bridesmaid orders, so its from the same dye lot, etc.. very easy process..
