NWR: WWYD (hair)

So, my hair stylist thinks I need to "have fun" with my hair while it's growing back. I'm just starting to look like I have a pixie cut instead of looking like a Marine. It's not quite full on pixie cut yet. Anyway, he suggested I do this:

My hair started growing back in late December and I don't really want to go backwards and go shorter, but he's kinda right. Why not enjoy things? I'm usually pretty conservative- I usually have my hair pulled up, I don't wear makeup, I don't take any style chances.

My coloring is similar to the model, only I am not quite as pale.

Thoughts?

  • BTW- I'm thinking I won't make my eyebrows quite that light. They are naturally mid-dark blonde.

  • I would (and I adore that pale pale pink, I've seen it on a few girls with great style and I think it's so pretty.) If you have short hair not by choice I think you might as well try something fun, right?

  • Colorwise too? Because that could look REALLY awesome, I'd just recommend getting a coordinating eyebrow pencil or gel to tint your brows in the same direction.

Yup- colorwise, too. I'm afraid my brows would look weird that light. But, they are not very dark to begin with.

  • I think it's always fun to try something new, but if you are really trying to grow it out, I'm not sure I would cut it shorter. I guess it depends on how quickly you want your hair long again.

Is your hair close to this short already or is it longer? If it's longer and you would be more into a pixie cut, I'd keep trying to grow it out.

  • @littlepep my hair is SUPER short right now. I lost all of it during chemo treatments, so up until December, I was bald.

  • Why not? I like the pink! If you're already blonde with blonde brows, it's probably fine to leave em. Bleaching brows is something I would not recommend =|

  • Yaaaas honey. The color as well? I have pink hair :)

Then I'd go for it! You might always try something fun. I've always kind of wanted pink highlights, but I've been too afraid to do it.

While you're hair is growing out you'll be able to try lots of different styles I guess so that will be fun!

  • I have such light brows that I usually tint them darker. So, I just won't tint them again when the color completely comes out. I'm due for a tint in the next two weeks, so I'll just skip it.

I'm not a platinum blonde, but more of a ash blonde or dark blonde. Of course, I was warned the chemo would change my hair color when it first comes in and I see how it changes as it grows.

  • Tbh I am living for it and I think you should do it. You could get a clear eyebrow gel and mix in a little matte pink eyeshadow to match it if you skip your future brow tinting.

  • I say go for it! And then show us a picture :) I love the way that style/color looks.

  • I probably won't get it done for another few weeks. My stylist is off this weekend and then my DH is home the next two weekends, so I don't want to take time away from him! :)

  • I LOVE it, omg. I am 1000% in support of this.
  • Go for it! It'll be better to cut it anyway - blunt ends look thicker than newly grown ends.

  • DO IT! I am all for changing it up whenever possible.

  • As an ash blonde with dark plum highlights (right now), I approve of any hair colour that isn't found on a natural head.  Love it.

  • My only hesitation would be if the dye would damage your new hair.  But if your stylist recommended it, I guess the dye he uses is not as harsh as others.  I do think the cut of it is a good idea!

I asked him that question and he said that my hair probably won't take the dye as much as "normal" hair would, but it won't harm it. He uses the color line at the link above (Wella). The one thing he will not allow me to do is put in extensions.

  • I really like it! Go for it!

But please, for the love of god, do not wear white eyeliner.

Why not? White eyeliner looks awesome in the water line.
