MOH due around wedding

My MOH announced she is pregnant and due around the time of the wedding (she doesn't have a specific date because she's only 6 weeks along)  She purchased her dress at David's Bridal and they agreed to exchange the dress for a different size.  My MOH is convinced that as long as she isn't in labor, she will be at the wedding in the dress.  So now I'm trying to figure out how we should make the dress work for her at 9 months which seems near impossible.  David's told her to exchange the dress for two sizes larger, but I feel like that is pretty risky. This is the dress  http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_sleeveless-long-mesh-dress-with-corded-lace-f15749_bridesmaid-dresses-lace-bridesmaid-dresses

Anyone have experience with this?  I saw they have a long maternity dress that comes in the same color, but I'm not sure they would allow her to exchange the dress for a different one.  I don't want her to spend anymore money and at this point, I just want her to be comfortable.  I don't expect her to stand, but I still want her to feel included.

I would definitely ask about the bolded. If they can't exchange for a different dress, see how long she can wait until she has to make a decision on the size. If she can wait several months, she might have a better idea of how big her belly will be.

  • a) That's the same BM dress my girls are wearing! LOVE IT!
    b) I would wait as long as possible to exchange it while still getting it in on time. Maybe she can go in around 7 months so she will have an idea of what size she might need or if she'll need a different dress altogether. Especially since that dress already runs small. All of my BMs had to go up at least one size larger. One girl went to up 2 sizes.

  • First, how does she not know her due date? Its 40 weeks from the first day of her last period. Its not rocket science.

Second, call David's bridal and ask if she can exchange the dress for a maternity dress. The dress you have selected will be near impossible for a pregnant lady to wear regardless of size.

  • Another vote for seeing if she can go for a maternity dress in the same color, there may be a price difference between the two dresses, but still less then a whole dress. Something with an empire wais because it's impossible to predict how big she is going to get.
  • So her due date is 11/11/15 according to her calculation but I guess the doctor will do some measurement and that will be a more specific date?  So I spoke with her and she was happy to hear that there are maternity styles at David's and the one I saw online would actually go with the dresses very nicely.  I'm hoping they are understanding given the circumstances and allow her to do an even exchange for the dress I had in mind.  Their return policy sucks so I'm really hoping this all goes well.  And unfortunately, we won't really know if she will even get a chance to wear the dress since she could very well be having the baby on or before the wedding.

That's the dress I found, and luckily it comes in S/M/L/XL so there is a better chance it will fit without any issues.
  • The second dress is a much better option.

And if her measurements conflict with the calculated due date, it shouldn't shift by that much. Maybe a week at most.

I'm so happy this wasn't a panicked post about how to replace a pregnant bridesmaid! You're handling this very well compared to lots of people I've seen on here. Congratulations to your friend!

  • @lolo883 I know! Most brides freak out when they find out a person in their bridal party is pregnant.  I was so happy to hear she was pregnant (and a bit shocked)  but I figure, everything will be fine.  This is something you have so little control over.  I really hope she can be at the wedding, but if she can't I'm going to just have all of the other bridesmaids (4 of them) each play a special part in the day.  Now I just need to start planning her baby shower! :)
