Talk to me about Stitch Fix

Do you actually get good stuff every month, or is it really hit or miss?  I see good reviews, but I'm really skeptical.

Re: Talk to me about Stitch Fix

  • I haven't done Stitch Fix but my best friend did for 4 or 5 months.  She said she generally kept at least 2 items in every fix (I think you get 5 items per fix), but she said it was very pricey.  She showed me a few things she kept, and to be honest I felt like I can find similar items for way less (sales, clearance, coupons, whatever) on my own.  It seems ideal if you're really busy, but otherwise I didn't see much of a point.

  • I did it and enjoyed it.  I only canceled because it was an easy thing to cut out of the budget while in wedding savings mode.  It seems better for casual/ date wear than formal office wear though-- I found very few things I would wear to work.  But I often got stuff I loved for the weekend, and usually they were good about sending me things I had starred/ favorite-ed.

  • Haha... I thought you were talking about the glue! I keep some of that in the desk at work in the event a hem comes down or something.

  • I ordered my first box for April, I don't know that I would do it more than once or twice a year though. The price points seem very high, and I'm more of an outlet shopper. But I'm very curious to see what they pick for me.

Oh!  Wait, I'm thinking of something else.  I've done Stitch Fix once but I was thinking about a clothing lending thing I was doing around the same time.

Stitch Fix was okay, I found a dress I liked. It was $80 though, so not a great deal.  I agree, it only makes sense if you really need clothes and are incredibly busy, or you are interested in having someone else put together some looks for you/ don't have an eye for style yourself.

  • I did it once and it was fun. It was pricey, so I only kept one dress (it was $80 or so, more than I would usually spend). The other items weren't really my style, but friends who have done it say the items get better and more suited to you each time you do it. I would do it again, but probably not regularly. Just a fun once in a while thing when I have a little extra clothes money.
  • I've been interested in trying it, but I'm afraid it will make me sad to get cute stuff that I have to send back because it's expensive. I just don't have extra spending money right now for that. It's already tempting enough seeing summer clothes. I need to further tempt myself by having clothes delivered to my front door ha.

  • Sounds like it may not be something I would be interested in.  All this talk of subscription boxes lately has got me wanting to try something!

Me too! Especially the beauty boxes. I love trying that new stuff.
But I'm trying to save money for the wedding so having stuff I would want to buy delivered to me seems like a bad choice haha. I already have an Amazon problem.

  • NatureBox may be more my style. Because, food...

  • Le Tote is the box I was thinking of and that may be more up your alley. $50 per month, unlimited clothes. It's pretty great.

  • Speaking of subscription boxes: We use Blue Apron (which is a meal delivery service that basically sends you groceries in a box) and Graze (snacks). We enjoy them both and have been doing Graze for a few months and Blue Apron for about 4 weeks now.
  • I love Stitch Fix!  I usually keep 2-3 things per box but have kept all 5 and kept nothing last fix.  I think it helps to request certain items, link your pinterest etc.  Most of my favorite items are ones I specifically requested.  The price point is a little high but honestly everything I've kept I've worn a bunch of times and the quality is really good.

I had my first Blue Apron box last week and it was fantastic.  I probably will try to do it every other week (or when I like a menu).  There are a few other similar meal delivery services I plan on checking out too!
