Drunk and sports vent

Sports have always been an area of lots of rivalry. That's what makes it fun.

Well NC State lost to Lousiville tonight. Obviosuly, we're all devastated (watching it with a group.of NCSU fans).

I get on Twitter after the game and see a ton of UNC fans talking loads of trash about State losing in the same exact round as they did. That seriosuly irks my taters. Makes me hot. Grind my gears.

NC is a prime area for ACC rivalry. You have NC State, Duke, UNC, Wake Forest etc. It gets heated that's cool. I just want people/fans to be gracious and respectful.

I'm also kind of drunk.

How's everyone's nighr? Anyone else drunk?

With the million man games lost to IR my Bluejackets deserve some wins (and the million is only sort of an exaggeration).

This is the healthiest our team has been since the beginning of the season.

We don't deserve a god damned thing. We've been playing like ass. We'd better get out heads dislodged from our asses or we won't even make the freaking playoffs.

I'm getting there....some friend drama on facebook and in real life makes me want to keep drinking this Crown and Coke. Apparently picking Godparents will end friendships and cause fights, yikes!

I had two strong beers and I'm far tipsier than I should be. I need to work on my tolerance. In the back of an Uber right now on my way home. Just saw two friends I haven't been able to visit with in months so that was really nice. Now it's time to get horizontal-- bed, here I come! And sorry I have nothing to add to the sports conversation.

I went to UNC. Not only do I not talk trash about State (I do hate Dook) but I work for a lab based in Wisconsin and I lost a bet based on last night's game where I have to sing Brittany Spears at karaoke wearing a blond wig. I guarantee no matter how drunk you are now, it's going to take 10X that amount for me to sing and for the audience to actually think I sound like Brittany Spears. So y'all lost. Could be worse. You could be me & have to sing Brittany in front of people I like and respect. And yes, I'm also drunk now. One martini and a bottle of wine split 3 ways and I'm done. Night!

Just got back from a hockey game. We actually won!! It was a pretty amazing game since it was fan appreciation night. They gave away a ton of shit, though no free booze.

Oh well. DH and I shared some stupidly expensive beer.

That's exactly why I never make sports bets. Especially ones involving the Cardiac Pack.

UGH. It makes me super ragey when other people are happy for another team's loss. It doesn't make your team better. You win or lose the same. Cheer for your own fucking team and leave mine out of it.

We have season tickets for the Avalanche (hockey). Most games are fine but there are a few where things get nasty. Most recently it was a game vs Minnesota Wild. Like fan fights in the stands where police had to get involved etc. It really annoys me, and the Facebook posts are even worse.. there'll be fans from certain teams that go to other fan's pages and just start talking shit when that team loses. It's like really, you have nothing better to do? I love my team but in the end, it's just a game. There'll be plenty more.

Yeah. I hate it when people take sports too far. I mean, for me, talking a little shit is one thing, that's generally all in good fun. But it's super easy for it to go waaaaaaaaay too far, especially in big, longstanding rivalries. Like... Okay. The Auburn- Alabama rivalry is huge. Even outside of Alabama, it gets interesting. Pretty much everyone in the state has a side, unless you transplanted after college, and even some of them, like FILs, have a side because of alumni children or what have you.

Well, a few years back, Auburn had a fantastic football team after a few years of high-end mediocrity (mostly ranked, but never particularly high). It was my last semester in undergrad, and it was the best feeling. We beat Alabama by one point after overcoming a pretty decent deficit.

In February, after the national championship game, a guy called a radio show saying he'd poisoned Auburn's two trees. We have a tradition of rolling the corner at the beginning of campus after victories, and he'd dosed them with enough industrial-grade herbicide to damage all of the flora nearby. I think it made national news, and there was a whole ESPN 30 for 30 special on the rivalry after that.

That's taking it too far.

Disrespectful sports trash talkers make me ragey. Especially when it's of the "you guys fucking choked, you're fucking weak, WE did bla bla bla whatever" variety... um no. YOU sat on your couch and drank beer the same as the rest of us. Don't co-opt an actual athlete's success so you can shit talk other actual athletes (and other fans, illogically) when you personally didn't do shit.

It was the worst when seahawks lost to the patriots in the Superbowl. I had to tell several patriot fans to back off. You don't get to bash my team and make me feel uncomfortable. They kept harassing us. Its annoying when women can't enjoy themselves in public because certain men think its ok to keep trying to act all tough. I try to avoid that bar now when sports are on. I rather go to Applebees, less tvs but I feel way more comfortable there.

They were probably bandwagon fans. Any true patriots fan and anyone with half a brain knows the Patriots got lucky with that interception. Maybe a bad call on Pete Carroll's part too.

See if you were at the bar I would have shaken your hand and said good game. We lost and that's pretty much it. I think it was a bad call too and I'll never understand it. Oh well, at least we won last year. I will have to say your team was very impressive the whole time. I wanted to hate you guys but I couldn't ha.
