Wedding Woes

Hello April

Time is flying.

I need to find an egg, potato, cheese breakfast casserole to make for Easter brunch at the IL's.  (Now that I think of it, IDK why they can't come here.  I think it's just going to be the 6 of us...Ah well, not a hill to die on.)

I also need to get Easter baskets together for the kids.  They're not going to be anything special this year.

I'm anti-April Fool's Day.  Once you're past 8, they're not funny.

I know, we're all trekking up to my mom's, mostly because I feel like it's unfair to ask her to come to us every time.  And there are times that she has to come to us--like if she wants to see DD play soccer--so I'm trying to even it out somewhat.  But yeah, now we're schlepping two kids and a lamb-shaped cake Sunday morning.  On the plus side, no prep and no cleanup, which is good because the house is a disaster.  I feel like we've hardly been home for days, so right now things are lying wherever they fall.

I tried to be Super Mom yesterday and take the kids to DD's school fundraiser at Chick-fil-A.  Holy fuck, that place was mobbed.  DD wanted an ice cream cone when she was done, and the line was out the door at that point.  DS was fussing so I told her, sorry, no, so she asked if we could try the drive thru.  We got outside and the drive thru line was backed up out of CFA, around the traffic circle and almost to Target.  Ugh.  I took them to TCBY instead.  DD was skeptical, but she came around when she saw all the toppings.

ETA:  Is this Amazon Dash thing an April Fool's joke, or is it for real?  This seems to suggest not, but...huh.  The T's & C's say you can get up to 3, but I could use a kazillion.  I'm putting one in the fridge for the next time DH says "Are we out of A1?"  (Does Amazon even sell A1?)  He's the only one in the house who will touch that stuff, and yet he's always surprised when we've run out.  Dude, do not look at me.
  • This weekend starts Passover. Friday night is with my family and Saturday night is with H's. Should be mostly painless. We'll see.

Next weekend we go house seeing in the new City.

I'm 36 weeks today. There is still no name. I'm up to two non-stress-tests a week and weekly OB appts. The good is that when I was this far with PF I was swelling like crazy. I'm still wearing my rings, and my shoes still fit. I get a little puffy at the end of the day but nothing like I was with PF.
  • YAY for low-swelling, Dixie. Good luck finding a house.
  • Morning.  I'm a little tired and sore from working in the yard yesterday.  Next week is free yard waste pickup so I want to get most, if not all, of the cleanup done this week.  I'd also like to refinish/repaint/spruce up our picnic table.  It's a nice heavy one that came with the house.

My goal this year is to spend a lot of time on our curb appeal.  We've always done minimal stuff outside, weeding and we started putting down mulch two years ago, but I want to do more this year.

Newsy Newslook?  Yeah, I'd say April Fool's Day.

    Blargh.

This whole anxiety-notsleeping bit has got to stop.  Add the PMS on top of it and then I'm a bit of a mess.  Of course, nothing that a few gallons of coffee can't fix. :)

Last night I got home to a plate of sushi rolls H had handrolled.  NO clue where he decided he needed to do that, but I benefited from eating a few.  They were very tasty and I gave him 2 thumbs up.  We're currently not really on speaking terms yet, but texting terms yes.  I'll take it....with a side helping of "dude, get off the cross".

Other than that, I've been happy with my random running + lifting lately.  Somehow I can bust out runs longer than an hour without too much prompting or prepping.  I have a half in about 6 weeks so I think that'll work.  Just need a littttle more consistency.

    My favorite breakfast casseroles:

Make your favorite mac and cheese sauce, layer a couple inches of frozen shredded/cubed potatoes, some of the cheese sauce, diced veggies (onions, peppers, mushrooms, whatever), ~1 lb of some sort of cooked meat combination (ham, sausage, bacon, Andouille is really good) or nothing, more cheese, soft scramble 10-12 eggs and add, then top with the rest of the cheese a coating of shredded cheddar and panko, cook at 350 until hot (45 mins or so).

    Or

Go to GFS and buy one.  They are on sale right now and the original inspiration for mine.

2 days of Spring Break down.  DH has worked until almost bedtime both nights and everyone is still alive and actually happy.  Thank GOODNESS for sunshine.  DH is taking Friday off.  We're going to M2's first gymnastics class then hitting the zoo for some bunny bonanze thing- Easter, Energizer, Trix, Nesquik, Peter Cottontail.

@ftrMrsO I make it a lot for dinner.  It's cheap, easy, and uses up a bunch of odds and ends and crap I always have on hand.  I can also make it up in the morning when I have time and bake in the evening.
  • I require @6fsn comes and cooks for me and fills my freezer.
  • This link is awesome.  I played Pacman on Google Maps yesterday and had to make myself close it so I could get some work done.  From the end of the article:

    "Amazon Dash Button: Keep
Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store
your favorite products. When you’re running low, simply press Dash
Button and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites at the same low
prices offered on Amazon.com, so you can skip the last-minute trip to
    the store.

I have to admit, this one was a pretty clever gag from Amazo-...wait, hang on. This one’s actually real."

IDK, I kind of think it's real, but a) I am way too credulous, and b) I just really want it to be a thing.  This is the future I imagined from Epcot in the early 90's:  everyone has a flying car, and you push a button when you run out of something and more magically appears on your doorstep.

Confession:  I loved the NSTs.  It was the only time I could just lie there and do nothing.  More than once, DS and I both fell asleep and they had to wake him with the buzzer.  :)
  • @heffalump, I've napped the last couple of NSTs. I was kind of hoping for an hour :D
  • I'm grumpy. I might go take a nap.

This day just needs to be over. I'm tired of being bored at work, I don't feel like cleaning my house, and I want someone to come do everything for me.
