We went and visited our house last night, and I can't believe that it's OURS in 3 weeks!!! I don't think I posted photos before, so here we go!
From the front; they had a problem with the cable a few weeks ago and they're waiting for the ground to thaw so it can be fixed, hence the wires across the front.

The foyer and front hall. Looking at the stairs the living room/dining room is on the right, family room is the door on the left, and the kitchen is through the door behind the stairs.

Living room/dining room. Looks short in this picture, but it's a nice length.

Family room. Behold our fabulous 80's fireplace!

The kitchen that I loooooooove!!! They re-did it a couple years ago and it's so nice!

And the master. The ensuite has the tub and toilet (and bidet...gross!) behind a separate door, and then there's a small walk-in on the left. And they're going to leave us their curtains...

There are 3 other bedrooms and a second full bath upstairs, and then a powder room and laundry on the main floor as well. The basement is totally unfinished.
Our immediate plans are to paint most of the interior, with the exception of the kitchen and the 3 other bedrooms. We're going to have a darker laminate put down over the parquet in the living/dining and family rooms; since there's a tiny step between the tile and the parquet we can just get the new stuff installed on top and say goodbye to the parquet. The parquet runs through the entire upstairs and that's all being sanded and re-stained a darker colour to match the new flooring on the main floor as well; it would be way to expensive to rip it all out and replace right away, but at least staining it will update it a bit. I'm hoping we can have the stairs done at the same time so that it will all match and be consistent. And then we're covering the fireplace with a white stone; although we're both babies of the 80's we don't want to keep the 80's style around!
The main painting and the floors are going to be done in the week after we close, since we won't be living there yet. FI is hoping to do the fireplace around the same time too, before we have a lot of furniture in the way. And then he and I will decide on colours for the other 3 bedrooms and paint them at some point over the summer. He wants the ensuite to be our first big reno project; we've agreed that it can't happen right away, but he really hates it so I don't know how long it'll last lol.
We were there with the painter and floor guy last night so we're waiting for quotes back from them, and FI's waiting to hear about the stone. We are taking full advantage of his family/company's contacts and that's really the only reason that we can do any work right away.
And now all I want to do it spend time on Pinterest for decorating ideas!
