All White Dressed Bridal Party?

Hi everyone!  I'm planning a destination wedding on the beach in Mexico, and lately I can't get the idea out of my head of having bridesmaids all in white sundresses of their choosing.  (I'm planning on going with a long, flowing, boho-style white dress myself.)

Is this crazy, to put the bridesmaids in white?  Is it even crazier to just have them pick their own dresses?  I want the cut (and price) to work for each of my attendants.  I'm not worried about being "upstaged" or anything, especially since I'm thinking short dresses for them, but some of my friends (not in the bridal party) think white is an insane idea.  What do you guys think?

Kim Kardashian wedding popped into my head...

But joking aside..I personally like the idea of letting them pick out their own dresses, for the reasons you stated.  I let my girls (only 3 of them) and it turned out fine.    And if you want all white, go with white!
  • If that's what you like, nothing wrong with that.  Easy to find white sundresses and there will be options that are way cheaper than traditional bridesmaid dresses if anyone is on a budget.  Some people may already have ones they like--I know I have a few.

And I think the pics will be Pinterest approved, if that's your thing.  Very together looking.
  • Why not? I think the look at the beach with all the girls in white would be lovely. If you wish, you can even get some pretty ribbon for the ladies to add some color to the dresses if you wish to change it up, but if you want to keep it white, then I say do it!
Ultimately, if it will make you and your budget happy and the ladies are comfortable then thats what matters. Many brides are choosing to wear colors lately as a trend, so why not bridesmaids in white?
ps. You said you were going boho, you can add ribbon to floral crowns as well to add great pops of color to the dresses. But again, do what makes YOU happy!

  • If you google "bridesmaids in white" you will get tons of results. If that's what you want, there is no problem.  And like a previous poster said, Duchess Kate did it.
  • The only potential problem I see is that one or more of your bridesmaids might feel they don't look good in white. But if you allow them to choose any shade of white like ivory or cream, that will help.
