NYE Fitness Challenge Check in Day 1!

edited April 2015 in Not Engaged Yet
Here we go ladies!  I saw some updates in the other thread, but wanted to post the daily check in anyway!

Day 1 Check in.  I did workout last night thank goodness.  I did the Brazil Butt lift high and tight DVD.  Holy CRAP! It was so hard.  By butt hurt so bad, but no soreness this morning so that's a plus.  Otherwise workin out today would likely be a no go.

CONFESSION: Eating really derailed last night.  I ate a healthy dinner and then JUST KEPT EATING! Blargh!

How did everyone else do?

Re: NYE Fitness Challenge Check in Day 1!

  • I did a good workout last night, can feel it today but not too bad. I ate a healthy dinner and had three drinks :} So yea and boo.

I am hoping to squeeze in some sort of work out today and tomorrow but working at the restaurant can mean the time I want to leave, is not the time I can. I did save last night's calories for tomorrow's nights dinner though so that should help a little (my app tracks calories by week). I looked at the menu last night to plan what I am going to have so I don't completely blow my diet. I was thinking of having the petite fillet mignon with lemon broccoli and the shrimp cocktail for appetizer so I can indulge on the desert! If I am careful what I eat the rest of the day tomorrow, I could POSSIBLY still stay within my calories for the week....Hopefully but if not, I refuse to feel guilty about it. We haven't gone out for a meal like this since February.

Aaack, mine either.  I spent five minutes stuffing myself into them like an overblown sausage.  I'll give you a minute to just picture how sexy that look was. That was the moment of clarity that reminded me it might be time to do something with myself or I am going to spend all summer in jeans and fluffy shirts to hide my rolls and cellulite.

I'm with you, lady.  I have this really cute dress that I can't zip up for the life of me.  What is funny is it perplexes me.  Like I stare at the zipper and the hemming and wonder if someone hemmed it in to play a trick on me.  I keep trying it on every few days thinking it will work...nope. But one day it will, one day it will.
  • I thought about working out before pretty much falling asleep on the couch.

I have big plans to clear out around my elliptical tonight/tomorrow though.  Also I found out our Bike Aboard! opens this weekend (basically we have a scenic railroad, for $3/per cyclist they take you 1-way, you select your stop and you bike your way back to your car) - I'm hoping the weather is nice enough and maybe we'll do a nice ride.

  • Yesterday, I went running outside for the first time since last Spring! I didn't last too long, but it was much nicer than going to the gym and using the stupid elliptical for 45 minutes. As much as I DESPISE running, I really like the idea of exercising outside when the weather is nice, so I'm going to try to replace the gym with running at least once a week. As a bonus, FI went with me too! I can't quite keep up with him, but he kept it slow for my sake. I've gone a little bit over my daily calorie allowance this week, but in general I've been really good.

With a food tasting this weekend I really need to try to get in some exercise, so that's my goal!

  • I did go to the gym last night but food-wise today hasn't been the greatest. It's cookie day at work and these damn cookies are just so damn tempting. BUT I was under my calorie goal yesterday so I figure it will even out. Today is a no-gym day for him but I will try to do something active after work.

@Hummingbird125 - I'm going to try to get out to run more as well. I need to find a good path for it though. And make a good playlist. I've learned that the right playlist makes running much more enjoyable! I wish BF could do runs with me but he has scar tissue in his lungs from having pertussis when he was younger so running just isn't something that is do-able for him.

  • I am signing up for a gym this weekend! Thanks to my surprise asthma attack last night I got my hands on an inhaler and explicit instructions from my doctor to use it before every time I work out lol

I probably won't physically visit a gym until after my vacation but its a start lol I am also starting to watch what I eat starting today, I normally just work out for the psychological benefits, but I was NOT happy with the scale at the docs office today. Not. At. All. Seems this cold winter keeping me indoors (I used to walk two miles to work every day before it got cold) has not done my physique any favors lol.
  • I have been terrible with watching what I'm eating since I stopped running. PT seems to be going well. I'm going to try to run 2-3 miles tomorrow morning (for the first time in over a month). I miss running SO MUCH. I have a 10 mile race next weekend, so I'm hoping to east through a few miles this week so it isn't such a total shock to my system. I've gained about five pounds since my marathon in November. That isn't terrible, but I'd like to get rid of them before the summer.

FBIL surprised us last night by coming a day early so FI and I raced home and cleaned like crazy. We were out of breath and sweating by the time FBIL arrived (he lives 1.5 hours away). I am counting that as my workout last night. And then I was really bad with eating and ate leftover lasagna from my birthday dinner, and we went out to dinner when FBIL arrived and had a giant cookie with ice cream on it. No regrets though.

Today I had a protein shake for breakfast and am drinking coffee now. I will be having a salad for lunch, and hope to eat a healthy dinner too. I am going to try to fit in a run tonight.

@AuroraRose41 - Vigorous cleaning wears me the hell out. Of course it counts as a workout!

  • Didn't work out - didn't dig the elliptical out, but I did spend 2+ hours cleaning and moving all the furniture around in a spare bedroom.  Right now I feel like a bench pressed a baby elephant.

  • I didn't run last night. But, I did a late registration for a 5k today and did it with FI, FBIL, and a mutual friend. I couldn't run the entire 5k, but I ran at least 2 miles (the markers were non existent after Mile 1). FI had to walk most of it and wasn't too far behind me when I had to stop at the water station, so we walked the last mile or so together. I had half of a strawberry smoothie with protein powder and water for breakfast and half a bagel with peanut butter and a banana after the run. I stretched almost immediately after but I am so sore right now!

I feel really good and I want to keep this up and get back into enough shape to run a full 5k without stopping. We are all heading out to brunch right now, and we have to walk about a mile and a half to get there and back. I am going to try to eat something very healthy while there.
