Wedding Invitations & Paper

Online invites

Just looking into alternate options that I know exist, and trying to simplify things as much as possible. Is it okay etiquette-wise for us to send our invitations via email? Again, trying to cut costs and make things easier. I understand that a phone number should also be included for those who don't use Internet very often. Has anyone or is anyone considering going this route?

Thanks!

It depends on the formality of your event. If you are having a casual wedding, fine. If not, no it is not appropriate.

Personally, e-vites just are not appropriate for a wedding. It makes me think of a college party.
  • Thanks. I understand where you're coming from.

What about a formal printed invite, and then including a link to an RSVP website?
  • You should be careful with online RSVP'ing. Sometimes they glitch! A simple DIY invite with a phone number or email address to respond to would be best.

If you do a formal printed invitation, you can enclose an insert with the website on it.

That said, I would still not rely exclusively on electronic RSVPs. Many people are either not tech-savvy enough to be able to use them properly (especially older guests) or won't do it for other reasons (including that they think it's improper or just prefer to mail their RSVPs back). So even if you provide an electronic RSVP option, I'd also allow for telephone, email, and snail mail RSVPs.
  • Thank you, ladies.
  • A wedding is a very important event.  It deserves formal written invitations.  If expense is an issue, try Vistaprint  Sign up on their website for notification of special sales promotions.
