Went to the bank today to get cash for tips and it was A LOT!! Can you let me know if I am doing too much/too little and if I'm missing anyone? I checked with Platinum and the service charge is gratuity for staff. Much of this stuff came in my package (videographer, florist, officiant, DJ)

Videographer (only doing 15 min ceremony): $20
Photographer (we are also paying for travel and 2 nights of room): $50 (will pay more later depending)
Officiant (he will also be Elvis): $50
Florist: $50
DJ: $50
HMU (it will be Bri and an assistant): $50

What about Photo Booth or showgirl or the venue coordinator?

  • I've been wondering about this too!

  • Personally I wasn't going to tip the photographer or officiant because they come in my (expensive) wedding package or HMU either, just because I'm already paying them a fortune and I don't think a tip on top of that is fair!
I plan to tip my Photobooth and catering because, about $50 each but only if they deserve it.
  • @vegasgroom do you have any thoughts on this?

  • I gotta tell you - My Wedding Coordintaor at Mandalay Bay - I intended on giving her a fat tip but, the way she handled the day of wedding cause me to short her! I didn't tip the photographer given to me by Mandalay because honestly I wasn't thrilled w/ the direction he gave us and I had to tell him what to do. That was annoying! Yes the pictures were pretty but still, I blame the wedding coordinator because she was supposed to give me a Senior photographer and this kid was like 12!  I didn't even think to tip my officiant! OMG - I feel terrible - I'm gonna send him a check!  DJ Godzilla - I didn't tip because it's his own business and all funds go directly to him. Master Piece Staff I tipped - Event Capt. 50, Bartender 50, All other staff 25. I also intend on sending something to Scott the owner. In my contract gratuity was included so they already got money! Gimme Some Sugar, I just was in Vegas and bought a whole bunch more cake! I also intend on sending them a personal gift. My Hair and Make I gave her 100 bucks because she was 100% wonderful. My private photographer I gave nothing again her own business and all payments went directly to her. I tipped 7 gave gift bags to the house cleaning ladies because let's face it they get paid very lil and they were wonderful the whole week we were there. I also tipped my hotel staff generously.

@hmgiffor could you update what tips you decided upon once your married? I hope you have a lovely day
  • We tipped as follows..

    Officiant - $100
    Shutterbooth attendant - $100
    DJ - $100
HMU - roughly 20% of the service cost
    Bartenders - $150 each

We did not tip photographer because she is the sole photographer and owner of the business. We did not tip the florist for delivery because, again, it was the owner who completed this.

Our coordinator worked for the venue. We have gone back and forth on if we should send her a nice card and tip, or if she was merely doing her job and therefore doesn't necessitate a tip. Not sure what we will do there.

  • What I posted is what I ended up tipping. I didn't think about the Photo Booth so I will likely send that asap. I will also be sending Kimberly at Platinum $100 and a card as she certainly went above and beyond.
