Gifts received before bridal shower

My fiancee's aunt is throwing me a bridal shower, and as soon as the invitations were sent out, we started receiving the gifts. How do I acknowledge the gifts/givers at the shower since I am not receiving them at the shower itself? Should I just keep them wrapped up and then open them there?

Re: Gifts received before bridal shower

  • Send an immediate thank you note when you receive the gifts. Then when you greet your guests at the shower, mention it again to the people who you have already received a gift.

  • You should open the gifts and send thank you notes right away. The givers will want to know that the gift was received. When you see the guests at the shower, you can thank them again.

Are you receiving these gifts at your home because these guests will not be attending your shower? If that is the case, there is really no need to address this at the shower.
  • Agreed with the rest of the ladies! Send a Thank you note as soon as you receive the gift! If they attend the shower you can just personally thank them in person as well or can ask if they received your thank you note.
