Post-Reception Party at The Chandelier in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Hi everyone! I have just been quoted a $55 ++ drink minimum per person for a two hour reservation at the Chandelier. My fiance and I weren't planning on providing drinks for our guests after the reception, so we are hesitant to agree to a minimum. Besides, this price is WAY out of our budget. We are very interested in The Chandelier because it is beautiful and convenient. (Our reception will be held at Wicked Spoon.)

So...do you all think it might be possible to just show up with about 35 people at around 9:30 on a Friday night? If not, do you have any other recommendations for a post-reception party?

Thanks!!

  • I'm not sure if you will be able to walk in with that many people, but expect the drinks to be about $20 a pop.
  • Can you just let your guests know that that's where you'll be hanging out after the reception if they want to join you? This way they know you're no longer hosting and they are on their own for drinks.
  • Agree with above. Just say that's where we are hanging out and they are welcome to come. We are doing the same thing for the nightclub we are going to. We are taking care of cover (if there is any) and then people will buy their own drinks.

  • Thanks for the advice! I would love to hear if anyone has ever just casually mentioned to guests that they will be hanging out at The Chandelier and extended an offer to join. I am specifically worried that too many people will want to join us and that the lounge won't be able to accommodate all of us. We are planning to have approximately 50 guests at our wedding and reception and figure that about 35 of them will be interested in joining us after the reception. I would feel awful if some of my guests were turned away because the lounge was too full. :/
  • @americankorean‌ I have the same fear you do! I'm just going to keep it casual and go in. I am sure a lot of people will go their own separate ways after the reception though. There is so much to do in vegas

  • I am doing this with our meet and greet the night before our wedding. We were quoted the same, so just decided to tell people where we would be and that they could come along.
We have about 35 people as well.

Ours is a Tuesday night so I'm hoping it won't be too busy!

It's actually next Tuesday so I'll post an update here as part of my reviews!
  • @Rosebubbly - Are you planning on hanging out at The Chandelier after your reception as well?

@nicolajane81 - That would be great! I'll look forward to reading your review. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!!
  • If half of the 35 people are women, you could probably get all of them in immediately with no cover and tell the guys to wait in line. :-)  Just an option to consider; no sense having everyone wait in line lol.

  • Yes we may hang out there too since we're staying at aria and it seems like a cool bar without benign a club within walking distance

  • @vegasgroom‌ The Chandelier has a cover?

@Rosebubbly‌ - I look forward to reading about your experience! :)

Ah, I see what you mean, it looks like no.  I haven't been to the Chandelier yet.  Actually other than one stay in a wraparound suite I've only been to the Cosmo once.  The weekend I went, all their craps tables were $25 min and my wife doesn't like to play for that much, so we haven't been back yet.

  • The chandelier bar is gorgeous and no it doesn't have a cover. It's like a walk up bar/lounge that's accessible from different levels. It's absolutely gorgeous.

The only thing I would throw out here is we've been here a total of 3 times. Once with my husband and twice as a ladies night (same night differen levels) and the service was absolutely horrible. The first time my husband and I were never greeted or served by the waitress that visited every.other.table.

The other time was a similar experience but as a girls night (roughly 8 of us). We were greeted right as we sat down and then when we asked for some time to look over the menu she gave us an attitude and never came back. We waited 15 minutes and got up and left to go to the first floor area. We were served on the first floor but the waitress brought us the bill after one round - like with the drinks. Whatevs. (without asking if we wanted more) and then no joke every 45 seconds or so would come back over to grab it and we kept telling her that we weren't ready yet. It was just overall really frustrating. A cider was 12$ and mixed drink was around 17$. If you're fine going up for your own drinks its no big deal!

I would hope if you reserved and paid the pp price you'd have you're own wait staff so it would be a little smoother experience.

  • @ericandmarie - Thanks a lot for the info!
  • Hello everyone~ I just want to bump this thread up in the boards as the discussion seems to have died out several months ago. :)

Any recent input regarding Chandelier? I would love to hear your experiences.:D

We are still planning on heading there at around 9 pm on a Saturday night with a large group of our guests (maybe 40 people) after our reception at Wicked Spoon. If it's too full, our second choice will be Vesper Bar.

Have any of you actually attempted this on a Saturday night? Do you think it can be done?

    Thanks for your help!! :D:D
  • Have you been to the Cosmo? Just because I am trying to gauge if you are working off pictures, or that you have seen it?

The Chandelier Bar is kinda strange in it's set up. It isn't very big (it looks pretty big in pictures) and I think it will absolutely be hard to get a lot of people in there at one time, especially on a Saturday night. I think you would have the best chance at the 2nd level, the bottom level is nearly always pretty full (or at least it was when I stayed for my wedding). It's quite popular. I am going back in about a week and a half and will be staying at the Cosmo again. I can try and scope it out for you more specifically.

Vesper Bar is much different than I anticipated, I thought it was going to be closed off in the sense of a bar. But it's really just on open spot with some seating in between the lobby and the casino. I was really disappointed.

  • It's been about a year and a half since I've been there on a Saturday night, but last time, there was an amazing swing band playing. It's pretty small, yet not very intimate since it's so open to the casino.

  • @sassyshosh, I have been to the Cosmo but not in about 5 years, so my memory could be a bit off. I remember that Chandelier looked really impressive from the outside, but I have never actually been inside for a drink. I would love it if you could scope it out for me because I'm having a hard time picturing exactly how it will all work. Vesper is a solid Plan B because of its location near the lobby. We would like to stick with the Cosmo because that's where our reception will be. Do you have any suggestions for other bars we should be considering? We are looking at having around 30-40 people at around 9-9:30 pm on a Saturday night, preferably with no (or low) minimums.

@xoeden A swing band would be perfect!
  • @americankorean I agree! I tried to find my photos, but it was Sept. '13 and I don't know where it is. When is your date? We won't be there on a Saturday but I might be able to scout a bit on our trip in May!
    image
  • Our date is August 1. We would really appreciate that, @xoeden! :):)
  • Will do my best! :)

  • @americankorean I'm getting married August 1 too!! Where is your ceremony at?? :)
  • @silverblade005, how exciting! I'm getting married at Paris. How about you?

Update on Chandelier for anybody who is interested: We found out recently that they charge $30 ++ per person for a one hour reservation versus $55 ++ for two hours. Do you all think we would be able to just do the one hour time frame and then perhaps stay a bit longer without causing any problems? Maybe 30 minutes or so? They wouldn't kick us out after exactly one hour, would they?
  • They might if there's another biggish reservation after yours, or if it's really busy with a lot of people milling around waiting to get in.
  • I asked Chandelier whether or not we would be able to stay past our reserved time, and they said that it would be fine. We just wouldn't be the only people in our private space anymore. :) I hope she's right and that everything goes as planned because we went ahead and made the reservation for one hour following our reception!!
  • Thanks for your info about the Chandelier, we are definitely wanting to factor in an hour or so there as part of our wedding!

Do you mind me asking if you've paid the $20 per person upfront for the reservation or is this just a minimum spend on the night and you will just hope everyone spends this much (which I'm sure they will easily do!) so you don't have a tab to pick up?
  • @zoevegas2015 We haven't paid anything up front, but we did sign a contract guaranteeing we will spend at least $1200++. We are going to pick up the tab for our guests. We scaled our reception back to two hours instead of three, so we had budged this amount of money, anyway. :)
