My aunts are planning my bridal shower. Is it appropriate to give them thank you gifts?

I ask this because I am getting gifts for my bridesmaids, mother, mother in law, my father, and father in law, all of whom are important people in our lives. My aunts are not being included in the count for the rehearsal dinner since they are not part of the wedding party, but they are planning the bridal shower. I'm just confused as to what is and is not appropriate or expected.

Yes, you can give them nice hostess gifts you want. But don't wait until the RD to give them the gift. They should be given the gift shortly after your shower.

FI's aunts hosted me a bridal shower the other week. I got them nice hostess gifts (a slate cheese board shaped like our state) and wrote a thank you note. I gave it to them the day of the shower.

This. I always feel inclined to give a hostess gift, especially when people are hosting the party for me.

I had two showers; my aunt and cousin planned the first one. I gave my aunt a bracelet and gave my cousin a necklace, and then sent them each a hand-written thank-you.

FSIL hosted my second shower, so I gave her a pretty scarf because she always wears scarves, and again with the hand-written thank you.

None of these gifts were big or elaborate. I think the most expensive one was the bracelet which cost somewhere around $25. I just wanted to give them a "token of my appreciation," so to speak.

I don't think a hostess GIFT is a must. What I do think is a must is a huge hug and thank you in person the day of the shower and then a nicely written thank you note sent to the hosts after the shower is over with.

This. Two of my girlfriends hosted my shower and I got them each an inexpensive cute piece of jewelry I thought they'd like (I think around $30 each) and a really heart-felt card.

A gift I received that I thought was just adorable was a really nice collapsible umbrella (get it... for showers??? I got such a kick out of it!).

Others I've seen are a beautiful mug and a bag of coffee or box of tea bags, or their favorite alcoholic beverage.

Thanks for helping with my quandary. I'll now be sure to get them something nice and I also now know when to give it to them.
