Tipping the hotel wedding coordinator?

Have any of you worked with a wedding coordinator offered by the hotel?  Ours has been fantastic throughout this whole process.  I did not know, however, if it were appropriate to give him a tip or something?  Just curious as to what you all did.  I think he comes "with the package" but he is just terrific.

Re: Tipping the hotel wedding coordinator?

  • I am a former hotel wedding planner :)  To put it short and sweet- tips are never expected, but always appreciated!

And if you feel he is just terrific, I say go for it- it's a nice way to say thanks, and we always loved knowing how happy we made our clients.
  • Our coordinator came with the hotel/property where our wedding was. We weren't sure about this either! We didn't tip her at the wedding, because she wasn't on our list of vendors to have tips in envelopes for... we aren't quite a month out yet, but we are thinking of sending her a card and gift card to a craft brew place since we learned through our meetings that she enjoys craft beer. We felt silly just sending her a card with money, so we tried to think of what we could do to make it more personal.

  • Think of it like this, the only time people who are working for you will turn down money from you is if the policy of the company they work for says no. So what that means is if you feel the need to tip someone because they did an excellent job and you loved how professional and amazing they were, give them money! Like PP said, No one should be expecting it, but people definitely appreciate them.
