Flowers: EDIT New flower combo

I would post this on the flowers board but it's slow

I'm having anxiety about my flowers. I'm buying in bulk, so my options are a little limited. I am having a garden ceremony and a reception in an all white room, so I wanted my flowers to look very garden-y. With the exception of a few decoration items here and there, my only real decor are plants and flowers. I have a few hanging baskets, and I will be putting succulents in teacups. I have some other cool plants and things to spread around.

I would really like to keep costs down as much as possible, because I have about 23 tables AT LEAST to cover, plus I would like some things on the bar. The bar is huge and pretty empty looking.

Here is my janky paint picture of my composition for the main centerpiece. We will have a mix of round and long tables, so the long tables will have more things on it. I will have milk vases with two of either peach or white roses. All the color will be in the main centerpiece.

I love the colors. I love the roses and the orchids. I wanted many different types of flowers in the same color scheme.

In an all white room with white and ivory decorations, is it too much? Too little? Should I find more varieties of flowers or drop something? I read for a large centerpiece you want 25-30 stems, so I have the makeup something like 3 orchids, 2 daisies, 4 or 3 of each rose, a few pieces of the greenery and baby's breath each, and 5 mini carnations.

Does it look cheap and haphazard? I put a lot of thought into it but maybe it looks like I didn't? Everyone I've shown IRL has loved it.

Anxiety. I'm about a month away and getting ready to order these little assholes.

EDIT: I don't love the daisies. I need like 30 total and I have to buy them in a pack of 80. I like them in the centerpiece but I don't know what to do with all the leftovers. I would end up just tossing them. I'm looking for a place to buy less currently. Everything is coming from Sam's at this moment.

I'm not sure about the daisies in that particular mix of flowers, but that's just me maybe.  Other than that, I think it will look really elegant and beautiful.  You seem concerned about it being all white except for the flowers, so here are some pictures of similar looks so you can see what you think:

Edited because it never keeps what I last paste for some reason.

@doeydo that was actually my original plan but I think a pop of color will make the room have more dimension

EDIT: I misunderstood you. My original plan was peach and white. I love how the pastels look with the white room. I aim for elegance! However, I like how in a garden you see a variety of plants and colors so I'm trying to bring that into the reception.

  • It sounds gorgeous! I love the idea of milk bottles, it makes me think of the teacher's cottage in Matilda.
  • I think it sounds really beautiful!

I'm not much help as far as the color because I went with pale pink, white, and greenery. I do think if you want to keep the whole garden theme, then it will look great! If you're afraid of too  much color, I think peach, white, and greenery would be very elegant also.

I ordered my flowers in bulk to make the centerpieces and bouquets from Costco. The flowers were beautiful and in great shape when I got them, Where are you ordering from?

  • All I would recommend is that three stems look better in a vase than two. I like all the flowers together. Have you find a trial run with Trader Joe's flowers to see if the makeup/numbers for the larger ones work?

I have lots of milk glass vases and i think leftover dried yellow billy balls if you need any! But I'm making you eat coconut shrimp with me first.

  • I'm not the best with flowers and stuff, but I really like those colors together. I think it will be beautiful!

I may also be biased, though, because I'm also doing all white with milk glass vases and then different shades of pink. I guess you and I are just super cool and elegant ;)

I really love the combo of colors and flowers...with the exception of the daisies. They just don't seem to fit in to that elegant look for me. Have you thought about hydrangeas instead? Or spider mums? I don't know about Sams, but I know Costco sells hydrangeas in bulk packs of 30 - you could do sage green or white and I think either one would look really pretty with what you currently have.

  • @emmaaa SAMs club! I have had nothing but good experiences with their flowers

@lolo883 noted! Some of the vases are too small to fit more than one stem but I'm thrift shopping for better ones. THanks!

@labro I did consider hydrogen as but I wanted to bring in more pink and less white

  • I think those colors and flowers will look nice. If you aren't in love with the daisies maybe get extra carnations?

If you have a lot of extra space to fill maybe consider some bushy plants to place around the room. I went to a wedding expo at a garden shop near me and they suggested buying fern plants to add greenery for a low price. Around me you can get a big huge fern for about $10. I was actually just at a lunch event where they had done just that on the stage and it looked really good.

  • I think it looks pretty!

Sam's Club also has peach (and pink) hypericum berries that might add some more texture if you want to try something different click

I saw they also have a premade wedding collection, might give you an idea of what it might look similar to (and how much they used)... I think the daisies look nice!

Here's what they have listed in this pic:
    • 4 White Spider Mums
    • 6 Pink Roses
    • 3 Pink Spray Roses
    • 3 White Spray Roses
    • 4 Pink Asiatic Lily
    • 4 White Waxflower
    • 4 Variegated Pittosporum
    • 3 Pink Gerbera

  • Pretty! But I agree about the daisies. Can you go to a local flower shop, buy a few stems of what you need and do a mock up? That may help you pull the trigger, so to speak.

Ah yeah mine are like that too. That was why I did the billy button as the third - the stems are super skinny so I could wedge them all in there. Had to cut the thorns off the roses to fit though.

I have a ton of clear glass ones too if you want to cheat and just spray paint them. :-p

  • I think your flowers are amazing and look really well together! I'm looking into buying bulk at Costco to do my center pieces, and my reception is in a garden/mansion, so I'm in a similar boat. Love seeing what you're doing to get an idea!

Thank you! I had some experience arranging flowers from sam's in my family for about 3 weddings. We always made sure the flowers were shipped 2 days before the wedding, in order to give them time to hydrate and open. As soon as we got them, we dumped water and food into big 5 gallon buckets and used nice shears to trim the flowers at an angle. If you get roses make sure to prune the protective petals around the outside! They'll look 1000x better.

Also, buying in bulk means you might get a few duds. I never saw flowers from costco, although I did consider buying from there. Over estimate!

This also helped me a lot.

I made an excel spreadsheet to decide about how many of each flower in the arrangements. It helped with estimating how many to buy! You can add prices and voila, you have yourself a quote.

  • We got my tulips from fiftyflowers.com. They weren't in season in our area, but they had all sorts of things. They were delivered 2 days before and they were gorgeous. We ordered 100 and maybe 2 duds where the stem had broken?

Maybe check out that site and see what they have to offer and compare their prices? It would at least give you an option so you won't have quite as many daisies left.

  • I love the berries!  We included berries (but they were fall themed).  It just adds another dimension to the (already beautiful) flower bouquet//arrangement.  The bouquet you posted with them is beautiful.
  • Thank you! I didn't even think of them @AlisonM23 is the genius!

  • We used hypericum too! Looks great in yours. And the branches for mine came SO FULL I had a ton leftover to do a few vases full of just that to scatter around. I think I only needed one stem of it in my centerpieces, it goes a long way.

  • I love the berries, too!
