So I'd made a thread a few months back about my cat who had been sick, then didn't want to eat. Whatever infection she had, we kept fighting it. She had 5 infected teeth removed last month, and was going in for the antibiotic shot every 2 weeks. Last week while we were in Hawaii she took a turn for the worse again, and my stepson dropped her off that the vet's. They called me and said that she was going downhill fast and if it continued they were going to suggest euthanasia - well, she died while we were on that call. She was anywhere north of 12 years old, and my first real pet I had as a grownup on my own (other than my cockatiel who is 20 years old and still going strong). We're waiting for her ashes to be returned so I can decide where to sprinkle them.
Here she is with my dad, who passed in 2010. I'm envisioning them taking leisurely naps together again, with Sylvia hogging up all the space just like she's doing in this photo. The crappiest thing about having pets is their too-short lives.
